This is our first year having a seasonal spot at Shady Oaks Campground. The owners are so very nice and super accommodating. The place is kept well and is right on the lake. Shower house and fish cleaning stations are provided. On the 4th of July weekend they hold a hotdog cookout and provide beverages and the campground does a bean bag tournament. We will be staying here for the next few years for sure. We are happy we snagged a spot when we did.
Due to my husbands work we stay in our camper almost full time. Shady Oaks Campground will be remembered as one of my favorites. The owners are nice people. Very responsive to any issues. The park truly is shady. There were never any issues with excessive noise etc. I feel like it’s a very safe place to stay. Everyone just got along well. If you’re looking for a laid back experience with a beautiful lake view, this is your place
My mother has her camper parked her seasonally, it is a small and quite campground. It is a overall friendly place with many seasonal campers that have been here for several years. That being said here is a list of things that are not so great about this campground. 1.There is no real structure to how the campground is laid out, campers are placed wherever they fit which makes the whole place feel very unorganized and unplanned. This can be a good thing because some campgrounds that are cleanly laid out can feel a little to developed and for some people that takes away from the feeling of camping 2.All of the permanent structures at this campground are in absolutely terrible shape. Some storage sheds look more like abandoned buildings on an old farm site. There are two houses that serve as year round rental properties located in this campground and those to are in very poor condition as well. Faded/ missing paint and poor maintenance in every aspect of the property. 3. The restrooms / shower house is also in very poor shape, constantly dirty, dimly lit, and a constant smell of mold and mildew. for campers with a toilet and shower built into their camper this is less of an issue but still very telling of the overall shape of this campground. 4. The swimming beach is in very poor condition and seldom used due to the large amount of algae and bird poop. We do not let our children swim in the water here due to these conditions. 5. The dock and lifts are in very poor shape and receive little to no maintenance. 6. The entrance road is in extremely poor shape due to a lack of maintenance bringing in larger campers can be extremely difficult if not impossible due to the condition of the gravel road. 7. There are two play sets located on the property that are In rough shape and only safe for use by children under close constant adult supervision. A few improvements could go a long way at this campground, but for now unless you are looking for a seasonal campsite with minimal rules and over-site from the owner I would avoid this campground and look elsewhere.
The campground sign said that everyone needed to sign it at the office however no one is at the office but there is a phone number on the door. You have to leave a message while you wait to check in. When they finally called back and came to direct us into our spot, our surge protector showed that the ground fault was bad so had to run an extension cord to the next site which was not occupied. We had a month reservation split into 2 weeks since we could not get the week of the 4th of July. We were assured that the electric would be repaired when we returned. When we arrived back the electric was not repaired and the site next to us was occupied, so we ran on generator for 2 days. To make matters worse no one told us that the water was orange and you should not do laundry in it or drink it. We did have a filter on our couch but one not good enough to take out rust. We ruined some of our clothes. After the electric was repaired and we thought that everything was fine now. the owners ran over our sewer line while mowing and cut off about 2 feet. We were told about it but money was not deducted from our stay. They owners were always nice when we talked to them but their campground has some definite issues. I will not be back.
Dirty rusty water, swim area water is not safe for kids to swim green and full of bird poop. We had to drive to Lake Latoka for the kids to swim. Volleyball net and swings are broken. Basketball hoop is in the grass. Showers and bathroom are in terrible condition. We will not be back. The only plus is it's quiet.
My husband and a friend of ours and myself just stayed here and we had a pleasant time. We were greeted friendly and shown to our spot which had exactly what we needed. The view was nice and it was quiet. We met a few of the seasonal renters and they were very nice. Over all we were pleased with our stay.
The weekend spot was wonderful, it was very quiet and peaceful very much enjoyed the weekend
Great place for families. Activities for kids all ages. Horse shoes clean facilities and ground.
