September 2023 Edit: Our original trip to Shift was a 5 experience. We've returned a few times since and it's time for an update. The service & atmosphere are still great. Building is clean, staff is attentive and professional while not being too present. The front of house staff is put in sticky situations when the food quality from the kitchen isn't as expected. The food selections & quality is the reason for the update. In the handful of times we've been back the Sunday dinner is no longer available although it's still shown on the menu major bummer when I brought my parents out specifically for it. The Caesar salad that used to be excellent is now a creamy italian dressing applied way too heavily wiping dressing off of sad lettuce..., the fish & chips was bland with very thick breading fried pickle found inside the thick fish breading, the burger patty is bland and obviously pre-frozen. The Caesar salad was off enough that we asked the server about it because 3 of us had ordered it, she swore it really was a Caesar dressing it's just a different brand than they used to use. The coleslaw tasted off. There are just a lot of inconsistencies which are piling up. I can no longer recommend this restaurant to someone with the confidence that they'd get what they ordered and enjoy their meal. Original review below--- We reserved a table through Open Table for 6pm Sunday. There were plenty of tables open when we arrived. He got a couple bottled beers and I ordered the smoked Old Fashioned. My drink was STRONG. The fried pickles. These are thin chips, not spears. The mountain of fried pickles comes with ranch & spicy ranch and would have been plenty for 4 normal people to split but the 2 of us finished them by the end of our meal lol. We didn't order it but we saw other tables getting these beautiful giant soft pretzels with bier cheese... next time! We could order the Sunday Chicken Dinner Special which is all you can eat fried chicken, 4 sides, cheddar biscuits & a dessert for $19.99 each. We picked Side Salad, mac&cheese, mashed potatoes & green beans and they were all EXCELLENT. This was the best side salad we've had at a restaurant maybe ever. Real fancy lettuce, cherry tomatoes that were actually red all the way through, Cucumbers, red onion, buttery croutons. The green beans- ok, a lot of places will give you canned green beans- not Shift! These were clearly real, living green beans that had been sautéed with onions & bacon. I'm not kidding when I say that I could have ordered an entire meal of just these green beans. Get the green beans!! But note they aren't veggie or vegan The chicken, mashed potatoes & mac&cheese were all great too. They were very much homemade comfort food and we will get them all again. All of the chicken & sides was available to get refilled if you'd like. We found that all of the chicken/sides arrived to us in perfect portions for both of us to be FULL but but also not wasting any food unnecessarily. Restaurants sometimes give way too large of portions so I wanted to point out that this was done perfectly and we noticed it. For the chicken dinner you each pick out a dessert. The options when we went were banana pudding, chocolate butter cake and vanilla butter cake. Our server was so gracious and polite all night. She was accurate, prompt and had excellent timing. This was our first trip to Shift and we'll happily make the 30 minute trip back to come support this restaurant and the wonderful people we encountered during the trip. This is a lot of words to say we had a great time at Shift, enjoyed an excellent meal in a place filled with caring, attentive staff. We're looking forward to coming back! Wheelchair accessibility: I can't remember if there is a ramp from the parking lot up to the sidewalk surrounding the building, but to enter the restaurant there is not a step, only the threshold for the door. Entire restaurant is on one floor. Tables were all/mostly center post tables.
I have the honor of DJing a wedding at Shift on NYE... They did a GREAT job!! All went extremely smooth, stayed on time, heard lots of compliments on the food and the staff was on top of it all. In fact, the evening went much more smooth than some high end venues that I have been invited to. My company performs at 140+ events a year, Nick, Steve and the team did a great job!! Looking forward to not only eating there but working more events as well!! Have a GREAT 2023 Team!!
---2023/10/09--- Stopped in tonight for dinner with my buddy. Got their burger special & fries and added a side salad. GREAT VALUE and tasty meal. --- 2023/10/04 --- The Shift team has really stepped up their game since last time! My wife met some Girl Scouts leaders for a over-lunch troop meeting. I asked her to bring me home a bacon cheese burger and fries. My meal was packaged well, good temp even after a 10 minute drive from the restaurant and tasted good. Very happy to see Shift is doing well and providing better for their customers. A great option in the Bright area! --- ORIGINAL REVIEW --- Ended up having dinner at Shift this past Tuesday after our 1st choice Vitor'sBistro was closed. The service was good. The ambiance was better than expected. Unfortunately the food was just OK. The ~$15 shrimp po boy was fine. The shrimp was just generic pop corn shrimp. The fries were cooked and seasoned well, but again nothing special... just from the bag. This place could be really cool, but they'll have to raise their food quality significantly OR drop their food prices to be in-line with food quality.
Random stop on a birthday ride and we were glad we did. Great food, service, and a pleasant atmosphere. The beer cheese is amazing and overall the food could not be improved on in any way. Pork chops were grilled to perfection, the chicken street taco had wonderful flavors and the dry rub wings were just stellar! Definitely retiring in the future.
First time being at this place and not disappointed at all. Our waitress, Audrey, was fantastic!! I cannot recall having a better waitress! The place was pretty busy and we had a long wait for our entrees. My wife's food was actually cold when it got to the table. Audrey made sure that she got a fresh plate, in a rather short amount of time, and that the food was hot. My wife really enjoyed the meal too. My burger was excellent and our daughter enjoyed the steak street tacos. The Italian egg rolls and Steakhouse Skins were great appetizers. We will definitely make a trip back to this place and will requesting Audrey as our waitress.
Was really impressed with the food and overall experience. Somewhat upscale touches but casual dining. Food was all extremely fresh with attention to detail. Appreciate that all the sauces were made. Will have to go back and try some other things.Food: 5/5
Adam S. did a great job!! We were in town for a wedding and stopped in for lunch. We arrived 20 minutes after they opened and Adam was the only server working. 8 other tables walked in right behind us. I don't know how Adam juggled us all but drinks stayed full, food came out on time, and he checked on us several times! The grilled chicken salad was delicious and my sister had the club sandwich, I think, which she really enjoyed. If you're in the area, it's a great place for lunch! Ask for Adam ;
We went for dinner and were highly disappointed. First, no matter how you dress up a cafeteria, it is still a cafeteria. It is so loud, like a humming roar. You literally have to yell to talk to the people at your own table. Then there's the food - low-grade bar food with nice restaurant prices. There are tv's on every wall if you're into that. Won't be going back.but it
Average food. Nothing was bad, but nothing was great. Nice looking place but could use a few personal touches to make it feel a little less like a food hall. Will return to try something else.
Pictured is the Margherita Flatbread, it was pretty tasty. We got the Fish & Chips, fish had zero flavor but the fries were good. We also got the Pretzel & Beer Cheese appetizer which left a lot to be desired. I also tried the Mac & Cheese which looked appetizing but really had no flavor but was creamy. Had my husband liked the main part of his food, we'd try them again but now I don't know if we will. Also, they were a bit over-priced, but what isn't anymore ‍ The server wasn't bad
