We’ve brought a couple of our pets here and have always had a pleasurable experience. Yesterday morning, we came in to put our dog Riley down, he was 15 and his time had come. There were no questions asked by the front desk, we were simply brought back to a peaceful, comfortable room with plush couches and dimmed lighting and our Riley was brought to the back for sedation. He came back to the room on the gurney snuggled up in a nice fleece blankie with his big fluffy ears so nicely laid to his side. We were given time with him to say our final goodbyes and got to be with him while he entered heaven. Throughout the process, the staff were right by our side comforting us and giving us the support we needed. We have put other animals down at other vets and this was hands down the best experience we’ve had. Thank you so much Shoreline VCA, you made this process so much easier?
Brought my cat in after she hadn’t been eating for several days. Everyone I dealt with was warm and compassionate. My cat was well taken care of and has been doing great since we brought her home. Thank you so much to Dr Sandon, Dr Corrado, and the tech, Nyla, for being so wonderful to our pet and to us. We really appreciate it.
My dog was involved in an altercation. My regular vet office happened to be closed, but left VCA as an ER place to bring my pet. I'm extremely happy with the decision to bring my dog there. My dog received immediate care. They showed not only my beloved dog compassion, but it was also extended to me. Thank you so much for making sure my dog heals from his wounds.
Horrible experience - this place has really gone downhill over the years. I don’t recognize any of the doctors or staff from my last visit a few years ago. When I arrived at the office in the morning, there were only a handful of other pets waiting. It took more than 5 hours of waiting to see a doctor. They suggested doing several tests including x-rays, which would’ve added another 4 hours to the visit, per their estimate. I couldn’t stay there for 10 hours, and honestly, my regular vet’s office would be open a few hours after the results came in anyway - the regular vet gets x-rays done within the hour and costs a fraction of the price. I turned down the x-rays and moved forward with the other tests, which I was told would be done quickly - within minutes. It took more than an hour and a half for blood work and to collect a fecal sample. In total, I was there 7 hours for a pet that was vomiting and had diarrhea - not surgery. My regular vet’s office is very busy, but runs so smoothly in comparison and I would’ve gone there except it was a Sunday and they were closed. I’d recommend trying an another emergency vet if you absolutely need to go during off hours, I know I will. And, no need for anyone from the hospital to respond that they’re sorry to hear I was unhappy with my visit, etc, etc. Please put the effort into improving the customer experience in the office.
I brought my 11 1/2 year old golden retriever to VCA Shoreline for an ultrasound with Dr. Hegler. She is so kind and compassionate and was extremely gentle with her. She also showed care and concern for both of us. She was very detailed with her explanation and ensured I understood. I had time to ask questions and never felt like she was trying to rush me out the door. Each person I interacted with while we were there was helpful and pleasant. Even though it’s quite a drive for me, I will be returning for my golden’s future ultrasounds just so they can be with Dr. Hegler. Based on my experience, I highly recommend VCA Shoreline.
I brought my dog, Digby, in after having 3 seizures first time ever for him within 12 hours. They listened to everything. They asked what I thought were good/relevant questions and paid attention to my responses. The appointment did not feel rushed at all. They prescribed an anti-seizure medication, which so far has prevented any further seizures. We also had a number of tests conducted to eliminate some of the easier-to-diagnose causes of seizures. All were negative. The next step is an MRI. The MRI is roughly $3k+. Rather than try to get me to spend money, they discussed the pros and cons of an MRI specific to Digby's overall situation and did not push me to approve. In fact, they made a very sensible argument against that route. I had also brought my older female dog, Fanny, there in 2011. That was also a great experience. Will absolutely return if necessary for emergency and/or neurological care hopefully won't be necessary! Oh yeah, I also called back with a concern and a question about the medication, which they were happy to answer, even having a neurologist return my call to answer one of the questions.
Bring your animal here only if its already without a pulse. Waiting here for 7+ hours is ridiculous. This is not an exaggeration. Unless your animal shows superficial wounds, it will be prioritized lower. The place is understaffed since they are unable to go through enough cases to get through to their lower rated ones. We brought our animal here because we witnessed it impale itself on a stick while playing fetch. The stick went deep into her mouth and the impact cause the stick to shatter. The dog was suffocating and we had to quickly pull out the pieces which were also covered in blood. We were worried about left over pieces being lodged / swallowed and a puncture. Arriving at the hospital, the dog was lethargic but did not meet criteria of being priority. Instead, a dog that had swallowed 3 inches of a corn cob was admitted within minutes of arriving. Somehow 3 inches of a dull object are more serious than the bagged evidence of bloody, short stick.
My spicy geriatric kitty had an MRI done with Dr. Galano today. I'm a veterinary technician elsewhere and I'm used to being with my pets throughout all aspects of their care. I wasn't able to be there with my girl today, and normally would have been very anxious, but I knew she was in loving and capable hands with Dr. Galano and her team. I ended up receiving very bad news, but they made it so much easier to understand and process. Thank you to everyone who had a hand in Allie's care today.
Thank you for treating Pete last night. You all were prompt and compassionate. Even though we decided to take him home against the Vets recommendation, he almost was euthanized prematurely. We chose selfishly and took a chance to bring him back to our hotel yes, we're traveling cross country to boot. He made it through the night and was more responsive, even walked around this morning. He's at another hospital now for further tests to determine what the cause is - sudden violent vomiting followed by listlessness, very low BP and even though his eyes were open, in response to our voices. Thank you again for administering fluids and stabilizing Pete.
The nightshift doctor and staff I saw were amazing. They were thorough and patient in listening to my pup's symptoms and answering my questions, and helped both of us feel at ease despite an anxious situation. Everyone was friendly, helpful, and calm in the midst of a busy night, and their dedication to making sure all were seen and well cared for was clear - even at 2am! While I hope not to have any more emergencies in the future, I am glad to know VCA Shoreline is close by, just in case!
