We just bought a pass for a day visit. Ample locations for fishing without a boat. The beach wasn't too busy. Very limited shade. We have small children under 8 and hoped to find a playground or something to keep them engaged. Great walkability even with a stroller.
Very nice place to stay, a lot of sites to choose from, very nice laundry building, store, we bought firewood for the fire pits they have at each site, walked around and and even saw an eagle, my husband left some bread out and a squirrel came and carried it up to it's nest, we stayed a week, will come back for sure
What a great place for a short stay! Lk Moultrie is really beautiful and the abundance of wildlife is not to be missed. Camping facilities are perfectly adequate. NOTE: there is only water and electricity at the site. There's a dump station on the way out. One star removed for the gotta be enlisted soldiers party being held at the clubhouse out on the peninsula hosted by Deejay Airhorn! until after midnight, way past quiet hours.
Best kept secret in the Low Country. This is for active duty and retired military. The place is kept very clean. We will definitely be returning
So far its very nice. Lots of water things to do...big check in and store...rental boats etc. Premium RV slots are better as they are concrete...otherwise dirt. Friendly folks... Fun place! On the other side of the coin... beware if the ANTS they are every where and no matter how much you try...they are coming in. Everybody complained about them! Almost 3 weeks later and i am still killing them in my Class A motorhome. Not good... Trees and branches...very low and doesnt seem like they are cut very oftem...maintenence around the place needs a little boost... Bathhouse cleaning...seems lacking as well. After the big weekend party with many extra guests coming on site...they were not cleaned for days. This is the main spit to shower and clean up as the whole park has no sewer connections... Would i come back..hhmm... maybe but you better hit a premium site with concrete pad, be willing to deal with ants, and the dirty bathhouse!
Nice and quiet place to relax and recalibrate. Everyone that I've met there is friendly and helpful. They keep the beach clean, fishing area clean, and the RV areas clean.
Beautiful campground with large spaces and nature all around. Absolutely loved this spot .
Beautiful quite camping. We spent week of Christmas here with grandkids.
Linda, Josh, Diane, Jodi, Coretta and Mr Richard work extremely hard to keep Short Stay running with little and lacking resources. They continually have to fight all types of battles to keep Short Stay afloat. I know as a frequent weekend guest for the last 20 years with Lake Pirate and company many changes have happen some good and some not so good. But one thing is for sure keep the unwanted vistors OUT, especially the Geese that destroyed our BEAUTIFUL recreation area and the riff raff. Short Stay prices have increased signficantly since the Airforce took over a few years ago. I have seen some improvement but not enough to warrant such a pay hike. Currently renovations are underway for the villas and many are closed. We are excited to see what the quaility will be once they open.
Absolutely one of the most peaceful places. Facilities are immaculate. Store well stocked. Campground well maintained. Location great.
