When we arrived one of the staff met us at the curb and assisted me into the building. She seated us at the table and gave us the menu. We were given fresh tortilla chips and salsa while we waited for our food. It was exceptionally good and the portions were large. We had fried cheesecake burritos for the road. We would have ordered more if we had known just how delicious they were. We will definitely stop by the next time we are in the area.
The margaritas are really expensive, come in a pint glass and are not that good. we had to order an additional shot to make it taste half decent. And I was excited when I saw they had grilled fish tacos, but that was another disappointment. it's not a piece of fish, it's ground up like tuna and tastes awful.Food: 1/5
I got their rolled tacos all I can say is perfection. Huge and stuffed with meat, a great serving of sour cream and guacamole. Their margaritas are off the hook, didn't taste like alcohol. The salsa is firey and just fantstice. The service made me feel like I was at a friend's house for dinner, comfortable and relaxed. This is one restaurant I will definitely be going back to many times to come. Thank you all for making my first time in your restaurant a great experience. I hope to return soon and enjoy more of that family environment. Kid-friendliness: They had some great options for kids food.
First, let me preface this by saying that my husband and I hadn't been to Sierra Mexican Restaurant in Gates, Oregon since they reopened from the fires. We loved it when we visited before. We returned today and were so happy to see that they were busy! The redesign of the interior looks so nice and the bar area is spacious. Booths were filled and the restaurant was bustling. As always, we were incredibly impressed by the staff. They are friendly and attentive, and service is quick. They know how to make a fine margarita, too! Prices were quite reasonable, and I found that we definitely got our money's worth. I ordered their house special with 3 enchiladas with sour cream sauce. I made sure to get one of each type of meat ground beef, carne asada, and chicken. The special comes with rice and refried beans, and the portion of food that you get is quite enough to make two or three meals out of it. Everything on my plate was flavorful and exactly what I wanted! The sour cream sauce is creamy, with a decent amount of spices added. They topped the enchiladas with the sauce, lettuce, and sour cream. Each enchilada was packed nicely with a good amount of meat. And *that cheese*! Perfectly melted and did the perfect stringy stretch with each bite. Definitely a plate I will revisit! If you're ever out this way, I highly recommend stopping in and visiting this little gem in the canyon! Parking: There is a decent amount of parking around each side of the building, just be wary of some of the potholes. Wheelchair accessibility: The building does have wheelchair access!

Excellent food. Excellent service. Family owned Everyone happy and smiling and super friendly. Will definitely be back. I had the fajita burrito
We've been going to the Sierra for around twenty years. Have loved the food and the family. Went tonight and still love the family but was very dissatisfied with the food. Tasted like oriental stir fry. Sadly, we will not return.Food: 2/5
A family run establishment, I believe. The service was pleasantly attentive. I had chili rellanos and enjoyed them. If on your way between Salem and Bend, I recommend you stop in. I sure will.Food: 4/5
Family owned for over 30 years. Really good food. If you don't see it on the menu, just ask. The can usually make what you're seeking. The children of the owner have taken the reins as their parents want to retire. The children decided to change the menu/food to that they prepared for themselves when they sit down for a family dinner themselves. The difference is truly noticeable. Go try it, you won't be disappointed.
American Mexican fare. The tamales were not amazing, yet the pork enchiladas were really good. Friendly service and reasonable prices. Best you’ll find in this small town. Only first round of chips are on the house.
