Art is how we express ourselves without words. Simpson’s art department is committed to providing you with the foundation necessary for successful creative expression. We do this through studio instruction, taught by faculty members who are themselves working artists. You will learn the latest contemporary and scholarly ideas.
You may focus on graphic design, studio arts or art education as a major. We will support you if you choose to complement your art major with studies in other departments.
The Art Department operates Farnham Galleries, which provides a venue for student exhibits and also introduces students to talented artists from across the country.
In addition, Simpson is affiliated with Lorenzo di Medici Escuola di Arts in Florence, Italy. This international experience is great exposure for you to study subjects like fashion merchandising, sculpture, art history, painting or printmaking.
Our students also have traveled to the Art Institute of Chicago, Walker Museum of Art in Minneapolis and the Nelson Atkins Museum in Kansas City to study the masters.
Students who choose the Simpson Art Department find a community of creative artists who enjoy a healthy exchange of artistic ideas and expression.
