One of the best barbecue experiences ever. Tried pretty much all of the meats, and the ribs were the best, but everything was amazing. The nice touch was offering you a beer once you got in the front door as you wait in line coming from outside.. where there is also a line. The patio seating seemed busy, but it moved pretty fast, so we had no problem, finding a place to sit. Highly recommended.
Our uber driver recommended Slaps to us while visiting Kansas City, MO. We got there before they opened a line was already forming. We were happy to wait. Once the doors opened it flowed very smoothly.. and it was definitely worth it! I highly recommend.Recommended dishesBrisket Smoked Turkey Smoke Ribs Smoked Sausage and Pulled Pork, Pulled Pork Sandwich, Turkey, BBQ Ribs, Cheddar Sausage, Burnt Ends and Brisket, Baked Beans, Mac and Cheese
My wife and I ate at Slap’s BBQ just after Christmas 2022. Southwest Airlines left us stranded in Memphis during their holiday meltdown and we ended up driving our rental car back to Colorado. Slap’s BBQ was, by far, the best part of the trip! I absolutely love BBQ and grew up on Memphis ribs and pulled pork! I’ve never eaten Kansas City BBQ and never saw a need to since I grew up with the Memphis stuff. Oh my gosh how I was wrong! This place was incredible! The BBQ was fantastic and the sides were equally as good. It’s been six months since I’ve eaten there and I still think about that place…it’s just that good! If you are in Kansas City and want some incredible BBQ stop by Slap’s you won’t be disappointed! It’s easy to find, just off the interstate and the parking is easy. Come hungry because you are gonna want to try everything!
Great outdoor patio. Ribs rocked. Great fries. The first few bites of the cheesey jalapeno sausage were good. The much-touted potato casserole is really misnamed. It's really more of a warm potato salad. The first few bites were tasty. But I had no desire to finish it. Got there at 11 am and there was already a line. Moved fast.Food: 3/5
Can't wait to go back to KC so I can eat here again. Line was out the door on a week day lunch break but the wait was worth it. Ribs and Brisket were seriously awesome. Loved the cheesy corn but the beans were too sweet for me.Food: 5/5
One of the best BBQ experiences I've had in a while. It's not trying to be anything that it isn't. I had The Cattleman with fries and cheesy corn. While the brisket isn't the absolute best I've ever had I grew up in Texas, and it's on the dryer side the sausage and the burnt ends were killer. I will definitely be going back as often as I can!
Slap’s was the best BBQ we had on our 4-day weekend trip to KC. The brunt ends and the brisket were exceptional. The potato casserole and slaw went well with the bbq. Excellent beer selection and they had quite a few local draft options. The patio was perfect. Loved the quick service!Food: 5/5
Their pulled pork is amazing. Went in a Tuesday and got the taco Tuesday special. One burnt end, one pulled pork with potato casserole and Mac n cheese. Both sides were so delicious. I loved the little things such as the hand wet wipes, sauce whenever you want, and the togo containers readily available.
We’re from Texas and we wanted to try the “best” Kansas BBQ so we ate at Slaps. The atmosphere was phenomenal, it felt like a BBQ place not a fine dining restaurant like we’ve seen before in Kansas. The ribs were absolutely delicious, probably the best I’ve ever had. The potato casserole was also delicious. The mac and cheese, beans, and cheese corn which tasted like nachos were ok. Our main complaint was the sauce. The regular “Slap” sauce taste like syrup and “Spicy” taste like our Sissy Sauce. The brisket was also dry and needed tons of bread, pickles, and sauce to get it down. In all this place was nice and offered a good experience for us. Kid-friendliness: Good environment for kids of all age. Parking: People come and go frequently. Spots open up fast.
Amazing bbq! Love the sauces. Everything we tried was delicious and fresh. The line was long so you know it’s good. Moved fast though. Plenty of seating. Fair price. This food slaps!Recommended dishesBaked Beans
