After years of my family and I being customers of Smiles Northwest, we had enough. The lack of professionalism by the staff, overpriced treatment options, missing transparency, and inaccurate assessments have all been contributing factors to switch dental providers-if I could give a lesser rating I certainly would. Time and again, Smiles failed to pause and do an exam/treatment while opting to aggressively push for more costly procedures, restoration work, etc. As a customer, I believe that if a priority was placed on exams and cleanings a lot of the additional dental work could have been mitigated. When faced with no option but to do restoration work, these procedures are astronomically priced compared to competitors and simple procedures like a root canal have to be outsourced to an overpriced specialist. This is just one example of the “money-grabbing” tactics of this dental office. Simply put-seek other dental options in the region, you will be better off as a customer.
Dr. Dotson and team are exceptional!! The office is very nice and inviting, the staff was so kind and pleasant and I had a great experience. Definitely recommend 100%.
Dr Chen is very skilled and efficient at permanent crowns, cavity repair and general dentistry. 5/5 recommend!
My family and I love Smiles Northwest! My boys 8 and 14, my husband and I get our teeth cleaned by friendly and professional hygienists and dentists. Dr. Chen and Dr. Dotson are kind and very knowledgeable. I love Smiles NW because the front desk staff call and text me friendly reminders, I know the hygienists well and I look forward to hearing how the dentists can help our teeth stay healthy! I’ve appreciated Dr. Chen’s knowledge of teeth implants and orthodontist recommendations for my family.
I am forever grateful to the team at Smiles Northwest. Heather and the front office staff are wonderful, warm, and welcoming and are the best at appointment reminders. The back office staff never seem hurried and always take time to ensure patient comfort. Dr. Chen is masterful at tackling challenging dental procedures, of which I have presented many, and manages to restore my teeth and keep me smiling. I want to thank you for always striving for optimal outcomes.
We're new in Hillsboro and just did our first visits to Smiles Northwest this past week. We were super impressed with the admin staff as well as the medical professionals. Everyone was friendly and accommodating. The medical team were not rushed and explained everything every step of the way. The dental equipment at the staff's disposal was the more advanced than we were used to at our previous dental office. We are patients for life!
Great staff and overall excellent experience! I had not been to the dentist in over 2 years and was a bit nervous on the condition that my teeth would be in. My cleaning was top notch, I left the office feeling like I had a clean slate to work with. Dr. Chen and his staff were very pleasant to work with. So grateful I found Smiles Northwest!

I've been putting off going to the dentist for awhile, due to extreme dental anxiety. I am so thankful I found Smiles Northwest. I had a cleaning this AM and it was painless. Nicole the hygenist went out of her way to make sure I was comfortable. Dr. Chen also did a great job explaining my future care plans and easing my dental anxiety. This dental office is amazing. Like a lot of people I have a huge fear of going to the dentist. They made me feel very comfortable and put my mind to ease. Dr. Dotson does an excellent job, and is so friendly and personable. Between my last appointments I had plans to go somewhere that I had talked to her about at my previous appointment. My last appointment she said she had been thinking about me and ask how my plans went. That is above and beyond what her job requires of her. It made me feel good that she followed up on what we talked about .. especially since it was my personal life she was following up on, and not just my dental issues. My hygienist Vanessa is equally amazing! Both at her job and just being an all around friendly person. My teeth were not in the best shape and never once have they made me feel like it was my fault due to neglect on my part, or feel like they were judging me in any way. I have had no issues with any billing discrepancies like at my last dentist Heather in the front office has handled everything like a pro. I am so grateful I found this office. They have been more than supportive in my journey to healthy beautiful teeth. I drive from Vancouver to Beaverton for my appointments, and will continue to do so. When you find amazing dental care like I have with this office, no amount of driving is too far. I highly recommend them to anyone looking for a new dental office.
