We actually had a really good time at Smokeys. Cle Elum low-key has a lot of great places to eat, but we were in a BBQ mood and this looked pretty good. When we pulled up, there was only one other person there and the inside was freezing cold from a robust AC. We dined outside where they had a big patio that was partially covered and it was the perfect setting. I ordered smoked chicken, but ended up receiving pork which was fine with me, but for other folks that would not be OK. My husband got a pulled pork sandwich and that was pretty tasty. I actually really loved the mac & cheese and I am not a mac & cheese fan. I got three sides so that I could try some more veggie dishes. The greens were great the beans and rice had no beans, and no flavor and the coleslaw was pretty good. I recommend studying the menu before you roll up because the offerings are pretty overwhelming and there are specials and things off menu as well. There’s lots to see in this area as it’s a very historical location. We love that the restaurant was on the edge of the forest and definitely will return with her other BBQ, loving friends and family.
Amazing bbq. I was passing through from Mississippi. This was glorious and reminded me of home. True southern food. So glad I found this place. Well done.
As a former Texas resident I was struggling to find any decent BBQ in Washington state. Smokey’s BBQ is definitely comparable to some Austin’s favorite places. Thanks to owners and personnel for great hosting.
I’m from Texas and was visiting for my sons graduation from CWU. The place is set in a beautiful area and the servers were very nice. Now on to the food. Best thing was the Mac and cheese. Some of the best I’ve tried. This isn’t a Mac and cheese restaurant though it’s a bbq joint. The bbq is very bland. Not much smoke flavor and the meat was tough. I agree with a previous review that if you haven’t had any bbq from Texas, KC or the Carolinas you will probably like this place. To those of you who have had real bbq it’s mid tier for top tier prices.
Awesome historic place with excellent food. Highly recommend and will definitely return.Food: 5/5
Great find! Was very quiet when we went and the venue is amazing and unique. Highly recommend to try it out. Try the Peanut Butter pie!Food: 5/5
Perfect location for families- outdoor space for kids to roam, play, and explore. Yes games. Beautiful view of the mountain. Old train station with caboose and walking paths with signage about train history. Plenty of outdoor and indoor seating. High chairs. And yummy food with kids meal options! I got the brisket sandwich and cornbread, kids got chicken tenders and cornbread- yum! Great beer selection too- local brews on tap and plenty of bottled choices too. Friendly service. All around a great outing for our family! We will be back.
Update: 04/08/2023 - just had their Chicken Fried Chicken & Gravy Biscuit - it was amazing. Smokey's Bar-B-Que in South Cle Elum has quickly become our go to lunch place. Lots of choices for food PLUS their sauces are amazing.
This is among the top 2 restaurants I would visit if I am ever in Cle Elum. Be warned that this is not a fancy sit down restaurant by any means, but the food is absolutely fantastic. We got the 3 meat plater to sample the different types of meat. Smokey's BBQ lived up to the name of Barbecue. The meat was flavorful and cooked to perfection. I loved it so much, I bought their BBQ seasoning and Nova Kane sauce. I used the BBQ seasoning to make my own BBQ short ribs at home and they tasted fantastic!
We found it by accident on Google, the place felt so welcoming an smelled like heaven! I had the porkbutt Mac n cheese, omg was it amazing!!! I tried the freito pie, the brisket an beef omg it was heaven, the food was soooo amazing if you love BBQ this is the best I have tried in years! You have to try it!!Food: 5/5
