Everyone who works for the retirement board never answers their phone, is never at their desk, and never returns voicemails. They should be ashamed to cash their paychecks
Early voting at Somerville City Hall was easy! I voted around 6pm Saturday and there were only 5 or 6 other voters at the time. Friendly election workers and an obvious well marked entrance make getting in and out with distancing simple. Plenty of hand sanitizer available too. Open Sun 8/23- 9am- 3pm, and Mon-Weds- 8:30am-4:30pm, Thurs- 8:30am- 7:30pm, 8/28 Fri- 8:30am-12:30pm.
Other than for early voting, the building is closed to the public until further notice, for pandemic reasons. It's a lovely older municipal building, with a very attractive high-ceilinged city council chamber. Very friendly, helpful staff throughout.
The city of Somerville parking and collections is a miserable joke. Repeatedly, they have failed to communicate with the slow collections agencies that they pass on collections to, resulting in 3+ weeks of waiting for a payment to be processed and for citations to be removed. Because of this, I have been stuck in a loop of waiting for them to update records with the RMV so that I can renew my registration, but receiving tickets for not having registration updated. This is on top of an impossible parking situation throughout the city to begin with.
A+ clerking. Not only did they provide us with the correct paperwork, but they helped us verify that we did it correctly. As a bonus we could pay the fee with a credit card, no check required! Somerville the City is pretty great too. I highly recommend living here! Been living here for 15 years now.
Very greedy city. They have meters everywhere. No free public parking areas for buisnesses . I am from North Attleboro ma. We don't have parking meters. I think it is ridiculous, and excessive, to issue a $31.00 ticket for a person who only visited a chiropractor for 12 minutes. The meters only take debit card or quarters. Which makes it extremely difficult if you do not have a debit/ credit card, or quarters. I will be changing my chiropractor office, and spending my money elsewhere. I refuse to put money into the pockets of greedy lawmakers.
Staff are wonderful and helpful, although the building needs some updating!
I didn't step inside since it's still under construction, but it's a brand building, something I think would create more value if they invest some of those money to the teachers and students resources.
Great city and very well run, ignore the racist reviews they have nothing to do with the city but only with these people's sad, personal issues.
I visited for early voting 2020. Lines were well organized and moved quickly. Staff were prepared and helpful. Great city.
