Durrell is an excellent professional. He is very knowledgeable about integrative medicine and always looking for a holistic approach in order to address unbalanced areas of our bodies. He is helping me reduce my cholesterol with alternative supplements and healthy eating habits. He is also knowledgeable about gut health and the impact on our overall body. Dr. Durrell Handwerger has been instrumental in my healing journey. From the beginning, he took the time to thoroughly analyze my blood and stool results, spending about 3 hours to develop a comprehensive plan for improving my health. His ethical approach, extensive experience, and tools have guided me towards healing. I highly recommend him for those who want to take personal responsibility for their well-being. **UPDATE AFTER 1 YEAR** It has been a year since I started working with Dr. Durrell Handwerger, and I am incredibly grateful for his guidance. All of my abnormal findings from a year ago have been reversed, thanks to his holistic approach. He provided me with personalized dietary recommendations, specific supplementation, and educational resources to understand the body's processes. Dr. Handwerger is always there to support you, acting as a health coach on your journey to wellness. He is an underrated doctor and a hidden gem. I have a special arrangement with him for ongoing communication and support, as he is the cornerstone of my health. It requires dedication and effort, but the results are worth it. Choose the path of healing and give yourself a fair fighting chance against illness.
I want to share my experience with Dr, Durrel... back in October I was advised by a friend to visit a functional doctor due to symptoms I developed which progressed to debilitating me to the point I could not get out of bed without my husband's help note, I am a very athletic person. By accident I came across Dr. Durrel in his instagram account and I reached out to him. He is the kindest person and spent two hours education me on issues that played a very important role in our health such as the food we eat. I LEARNED ALOT! He ordered an impressive and thorough medical lab work.... I had quite a few issues that were crippling me, which I was later diagnosed with PMR by my rheumatologist whom prescribed prednisone and I did not take. I chose to follow the holistic way to heal via Dr. Durrel. I asked how long it would it take for the supplements work and start to heal and was given an estimate of 3 months. I am BLESSED to say it has helped me recover!!! My rheumatologist, who was not very happy I did not follow Doctor's order ,was impressed how I recovered only taking the supplements. We are meant to heal...Our body is a miracle...we just need to provide what it needs! Getting to the root cause has been the answer! I am so grateful for Dr. Durrel and what he has done for me! I am so glad i found Dr Durrell , i saw him on video 3 years ago talking about the underlying causes of our symptoms and gut issue , but i always postpone going as we are always busy with life . i wish i had gone there 3years ago . This doctor is a nice human , not like regular doctor who don't want to know about your foot if you come for your finger , he look at the whole picture and try to find out what are the reason you feel this way ; he take time to explain you your blood test and go deeper into the issue until he can find how to help you resolve your health problem . Dr Durrell tailors his plans super specific to each patient. He is extremely caring, so smart, genuine and truly just wants the best for his patients. You really feel like a human not just a number when you are in this office I am so grateful and thankful for you Durrell!!! and i recommend anyone not feeling themself to take the time to go , make an appointment ; it is refreshing to see there are still doctors who remember why they choose to do this profession in the first place ! I am physically excited to write this review! I have been struggling SO SO long with PCOS and other metabolic issues. Then, everything got worse after having COVID in 2020. I have not felt well since and other doctors have just waved me and my concerns off. From the literal moment I sat down in Durrell’s office I felt a huge sense of relief and care. Our first appointment he took 2 hours to look over all of my past bloodwork and continued to explain to me how my body processes work and why I might be having issues. I have a lot of health anxiety and hate going to doctors but actually LOVED being there learning with him for 3 hours. He is such a gentle human! The tests he ran were so detailed and when we got the results, we spent another 3 hours going over a plan to heal so many ailments, issues and nutrition deficiencies other doctors never spoke of. He mapped out a path of how my life would be in 30 years if I continued the way I was and it was truly humbling to see what poor state my health has been in even after seeing traditional “doctors” a ton after COVID. He never once made me feel anything but empowered to make some changes!!! I truly feel like Durrell gave me control of my body back and helped me understand what’s happening. He tailors his plans super specific to each patient. He is extremely caring, so smart, genuine and truly just wants the best for his patients. I’ve even been able to text him questions about foods and things along the way. I can’t wait to start healing because he helped me get to the root causes of my issues. Durrell straightened out my GI issues with the first plan he put me on. For years I had been on meds from other specialists with no success. I trust my health to him completely and value his deep knowledge of medicine, science and his holistic approach. I am looking forward to continuing with his treatments and recommendations to understand and control other health concerns. I highly recommend him to everyone interested in quality and in-depth care.
I would say meeting Durrell was a somewhat divine intervention. I do not trust my health with just about anyone, but I did come to a point in my health journey where I did need guidance, a nudge in the right direction. I have been dealing with skin issues most of my life and lately these issues were at their peak. Durrell has helped me better understand what is the root cause of some of my ailments. He definitely has a way of taking the time to listen and talk to you as a person, as well as, doing the proper tests to dig deeper at certain causes. I have only been working with him for a few weeks and I am seeing drastic improvements in many areas of my health, not just my skin. He definitely understands how everything is connected and how to promote healing in the whole person and not just a specific area of the body.
