I don’t understand why it’s an emergency room when myself and plenty other people are not being treated as an emergency patient. I’ve been here for 6 hours and it took them 2 hours just to draw my blood. This place is unorganized and needs new management. The front desk staff is decent, however, they need a class on how to engage and talk to patients who are in distress. As I sit in the lobby all I see is the front desk and someone else coming from the back to chit chat and have the nerve to look at people who have a question like they’re crazy. I’ve been here for 6 hours buts it’s more distressed patients that’s been her for 10- 12 hours. This is beyond inconsiderate and ridiculous. This will be my last time attending this medstar hospital. Effective change needs to be rendered.
It's absolutely ridiculous that I came into the emergency room with an elevated heart rate of 120 and the staff had no sense of urgency to get me with a doctor. 5 hours and I am still waiting to see a doctor and the staff says it can be another 1 to 2 hours before i see a doctor. Make me understand this!!!! This is terrible!!!!! 4. Today 1/6/2023 I received a call following up with me about my concerns. After speaking with Linda, I feel their are people who care about the patients. I think I will give this hospital another try if needed in the future hopefully not. I pray I stay well. I'm changing my review to a 2, because of Linda. Hope my rating is changed to a 5, with continued follow-up and change. THANK YOU LINDA!!! 3. I was finally seen at approximately 1:15 am after speaking to a supervisor. Thank God for the doctor, I feel like only the supervisor and doctor cared about my well being. I finally left at 6:45 am with the thoughtful verbal and written instructions from the doctor. 2. Update: It is 11:51pm and I still haven't received care after being here for over 10 hours. The nurse keeps telling me you are so close, she told me that at 9pm and I'm still waiting. If I wasn't afraid that I could possibly have a heart attack I would leave. I will never come here ever again. 9:41 pm and I am still in the emergency room. 1. How is it possible that people that came 4 hours after me are being seen? The excuse I'm being given is that they have different circumstances. I guess my heart elevated heart rate of 119 is not important enough.
I'm not sure why this facility is receiving such low ratings. I was there for an outpatient procedure with sedation today and can only say positive things - starting with the friendly front desk staff, to the nice woman who checked me in. And all of the nursing staff were outstanding. Very friendly, compassionate, caring and engaging. The doctors were informative and took their time answering questions. From check-in to the recovery room, everyone was friendly, professional and caring. I was very nervous but everyone put me at ease. I could not have had a better experience. Thank you so much!
My insight as the patient caregiver. This was not an ER situation. The first contact upon arrival was a security receptionist, front lobby. She certainly did not offer a welcoming nor friendly demeanor and I felt I was a bother to her. She had her duties to perform checking us in but unfortunately, she left a very bad first impression of this facility. After finishing with her, I had nothing but an exceptional experience with all staff. The areas I was in were very clean, comfortable and welcoming. The patient herself felt at ease, impressed with all staff and very well cared for.
I was at the L&D for a scheduled c-section last month and had a great experience from beginning to end. I was in for 4 days and nurses and doctor were very knowledgeable and caring came in to check on both my son and I multiple times a day. Also wanted to specifically mention nurse Lulu who was awesome along with the cafeteria ladies Julianne or Julia not sure of spelling but she was such sweet lady over the phone and Tonya who went above and beyond to get me my dinner after finding out I was being discharge earlier then expected.
Extremely horrible experience. My wife was transported here yesterday via ambulance and had to wait in the triage area while she was bleeding out on the stretcher for over 5 hours, just to then be sent back to the general waiting area, after which we waited an additional 2 1/2 hours before finally giving up and leaving. There were also many other very sick patients, some of who had arrived there even before we did, who also eventually gave up and left before we did. One person was vomiting/ gagging during the whole 7 1/2 hours we were there, and another who was pregnant was coughing extremely badly the whole time and throwing up for multiple hours as well, after her condition kept worsening. Some of the waiting room staff were also pretty dismissive and just kept giving people the run around getting many people’s hopes up for nothing. We were all being very patient, but something is seriously wrong at this location in terms of management, and they are clearly extremely understaffed. I’m sure this was made much worse by the fact that 4 of the nurses had ironically called out that same day from what we were told Monday, Oct 31st. Will definitely be contacting the hospital director about all of this, as well as some other sources. Maybe then some changes will finally be made here. Anyone who has an emergency should definitely be aware and strongly consider these things and prepare themselves for this. Might want to consider choosing a different hospital if at all possible, or else risking your loved one potentially ending up in a much worse situation. Just a thought. I will say that much of the staff seemed to be doing what they could, especially the nurses. My wife was also fortunately able to get some assistance from the charge nurse, whom she said was great, and some lab work despite still never being able to actually be seen by a doctor or get a room. I by no means am trying to be negative or not give the staff here that are doing a good job the credit that they deserve, but the buck ultimately stops at management though with these kinds of issues, and some serious changes clearly need to be made at this location as soon as possible.
I wish I could rate this place with 0 stars. This is one of the most horribly organized, poor communicating, dysfunctional "emergency" centers in the area. I brought my mom here at 8:00 pm on a Monday evening after she was experiencing dizziness, nausea, & vomiting for 2 days. We got her signed in and saw 3 different people to do basic tasks of an EKG, triage, & then blood work. All of this could've been done at one time, speeding up the process. After being called back 3 different times, we just had to return to the waiting area which is full with at least 30 other people and sat here until 2:30 am with no update, no one letting us know her results, or even sharing with us why the wait time was so long. People who came in after us were seen and released before us and no one could explain why we were not being seen. I went to ask the nurse on duty why my mom hadn't been seen yet and to see if we could just have someone tell her what the results of her blood test were. But all we were told was that we'd have to wait for a bed to open. No one could tell us how long the wait would continue to be. We are currently still waiting! I am extremely disappointed in the process here and something needs to change!
8 weeks pregnant had some bleeding that was a bit heavy, thank goodness I was not in significant pain, took 2 hours to get an ultrasound which thankfully looked good. After the fourth hour I still was waiting on a doctor and a lab technician to draw blood and then wait for the results so the doc to review. I left without seeing the doc or lab technician because I have work tomorrow and have not ate yet which just would have caused me more stress waiting around. I blame the educational systems and our state government for not ensuring our essential workers are there and ready to work. Will not be going back EVER.
People waiting over 8 hours to see a doctor is not acceptable. I'll never go there again. It's 5 minutes from my house. Chest pain patients get treated the same as a sprained ankle. They did an EKG but the triage RN didn't look at it. I got no results in 3 hours. I wanted to wait in my car instead of in a crowded waiting room full of sick people during a pandemic but they said they won't call your cell phone. No estimate of when a room will be ready. Medstar won't get another penny from me. I wish I had checked the reviews before I wasted my time.
I don't think I could be any angrier or dissatisfied with the treatment here. 3 days in a row 7 plus hours my girlfriend's screaming in pain begging for somebody to help her. She was released that fire two days give us prescription for ibuprofen. They called to send it to ask results from her blood work and she needed to come back in possible sepsis. Of course we came straight back we've been sitting here with her screaming and riding in pain begging for someone to help her when they called her told her to come back why does she have to wait another 8 to 10 hours when she was asked to come back. I definitely would not so much to give this one star if I didn't have to at least give one to be able to write a review. Go to the veterinary clinic down the street before you come here. Or Google it be better off googling it than you would come here I'm about to call an ambulance to come pick her up from here and take her somewhere else. And there's no need to send back the candy response you know the number or link that I can call or contact to talk to somebody about this is there's no need I have nothing to say that I haven't already said here and in the lobby. If something happens to her based on something time sensitive, the wrath of God will look like mother goose rhymes. I promise!
