Mainly my fault for not knowing anything about steel and failing to do the research before buying. I called looking for some high carbon steel stock. Just a small piece. I was transferred to sales, which is located else where I guess, I told the guy I wanted some high carbon steel, and he quoted me on some 1018 definitely not high carbon. It would have been fine if he simply misunderstood, but even if he did, he charged me $25 for a 1/4x1x18” piece!!! I figured that sounded about right for high carbon, so didn’t think to verify it was actually high carbon. His exact words, “ I can do a really good price if you get 18 inches worth.” This is 3x the going rate!! The guys at the actual warehouse were awesome. So nothing against them. But the sales guy completely ripped me off.
Do not send these sales people a print to read. Seems like reading dimensions is just to much trouble or to hard for them. The description in the title block is not where you get dimensional data EVER! I can call my drawing/print anything I want. I can name the drawing, "White boy can't jump." How do you get a dimensions off that?
I have done a lot of business and have always been happy with the service and the people are very nice also.
While their prices are high, their quality is good and consistent.
Great vendor.
