This hospital has been a problem for me, and I don't know why I keep going back. Tonight was the last night going there for mental and physical. When you are there for mental reason, they treat you as a mental patient and not as a human being. If you're going there for physical reasons, your just dumb founded when it comes to your body as if you're not the one experiencing those issues. The doctors there are TERRIBLE! And let's not get on the mental health floor. You have nurses that act like they care about you, and they really don't. They just want to be in your business so they can run and tell the others. Let me give credit when credit is do! You do have great nurses who REALLY care about you. On the mental health floor, I would say Jennifer, Amanda, the manager on the mental health floor but I can't think of her name. And I can't think of the LPN that I see twice already in public. Everyone else is something else! I could go on, but I am sleepy.
This hospital is a joke! Go in with severe back pain give you some medicine then send you home. No x rays no CT or mri to figure out what's going on. Just follow up with your primary care pain persist. Never come here best advice
That ER has some tongue and cheek night staff with no Carry though… who the heck sticks a person with an IV lead and does not supply the IV for the other end with fluids - I had to wait until shift change to get an actual IV and nausea meds, I could go on but I won’t… If you have to go to E.R. and you are presenting with vertigo and nausea to the point of dry heaves do not go to this ER at night. Worst ER ever. Done with these people, this institution.
This is a great place nurse tish was great and the doctor very caring I want to thank your I went in there around 3pm and was treated like a person good job if I could do 10 stars I would
The x-ray/CT tech was rude and unprofessional, not to mention she had no idea of how to find my husband's vein. She stuck him several times and gave him a huge bruise. This place should be shut down.
Truly awful. Got charged for them to do basically nothing. Went to check if I had a blood clot in my leg and they did not even have a tech or anyone that could acually help me. Told me to come back a few days later. They took my blood pressure, touched my leg amd gave me a motrin. That's all. It truly makes me lose faith to even go to a hospital. I have also been having dizzy spells along with the pain in one leg. I just wish I never went.
We had the best service with no wait and we were very happy with nurses, doctor, X-ray staff. We were treated with respect and dignity.
Worst hospital I've ever been too and that's saying a lot. I was admitted for severe dehydration. As a single mother, I had my infant son with me and I understand that doctors and nurses aren't babysitters but me being one of the few patients in the hospital in the middle of the night, any help would have been nice. Their magical cure for my dehydration was half an IV, not even an entire 1 bag. They told me that at 3am that I was fine and needed to go regardless of the fact that I was still continuously vomiting and could barely walk. They refused to give me any water. I had a dead phone and was taken to the hospital via ambulance so I had no ride back to my vehicle, no directions, and they wanted me to carry my son, his car seat, and his bag back to a vehicle I had no idea the location of in the middle of the night/early morning. I ended up sleeping on the floor of the lobby and was woken up and told that it was a bad look for them. Really? For the sake of everyone, I hope this medical center is shut down before I pass through Emporia again.
Sherron Benn-Thompson Is the worst doctor I've ever came across!!! Very rude and downplays symptoms. I came to the er two days in a row after sitting in a room for 3 hours for basically no reason. No tests were ran, which they should've been for the condition I have. If you don't want to do your job properly find a new one!!! I went to James River Cardiology in Emporia and got the actual care I needed & was referred to someone else in the hospital. I would definitely try to avoid coming to this ER when she is on the clock
This place operates illegally. Their adult psychiatric unit operates "worse than most prisons i've been to" according to a fellow patient. Semantics and legal loopholes are the only thing keeping this place up and running. Do not go here. The nurses in charge of answering the phone cover their nametags and have fake names. They place patients under TDO constantly in attempt to make more money. They assume black& brown patients have no insurance so they can attempt to put them into medical debt regardless of medicaid status. They placed me and other patients on medications without direct informed consent. They lied to the psychiatrist who was in charge of my case constantly, leaving me deprived of my own prescribed medications and birth control for a week straight. They attempted to "heal" me through sunday services and prayer, despite this being a clear violation of the law for adults U.S citizens or not to choose their own healthcare treatments, psychiatrists, and to be given a clear answer about our own health. Religion and personal bias should have no place in healthcare. They also assumed I was muslim based pure assumption, and attempted to "convert me". They placed me in an isolation unit directly preceeding my voluntary discharge, due to 2 confirmed covid cases after their sunday service unmasked, and not once beforehand did they disinfect the communal room till AFTER the 2 confirmed covid cases. Not once was I given a direct answer about my own health. Not once did they follow covid protocols for the immunocompromised and unvaccinated patients. They had a crucifix in the nurse's booth. The 2 women there who went by "SueEllen" and "Jennifer", both RNs who claimed they had been working there for decades outright laughed at me, mocked me, and played music when I was demanding to see my health charts. I was admitted to this place after reporting an assault with the VCU emergency center. I was never notified or told about how this place actually was. I was not given a choice at the time "due to covid". The adult psych unit was not separated by sex, so I had to deal with constant threats and harassment by other male patients, all of whom proudly proclaimed their their disciplinary records, would talk about and brag about abusing people that looked like me while we ate in the communal room, and would walk by me when it was "phone time" 10 minutes for twice a day, which was a violation of privacy according to their own brochure. They claimed patients were entitled to a private phone call, but that's really only if they liked you i.e, didn't complain or make their jobs harder by knowing your patient rights. Me and 3 other black female patients were never allowed the same privileges as the white male patients. These men were admitted for violent crimes and had lengthy criminal records. They were treated completely differently than us, despite us never exhibiting or being admitted for violent behavior. Complaining got us 'TDO'd" I was never familiar with the term beforehand due to not having a disciplinary record. The nurses would not be up front about our medical charts, and would only "check" for our vitals while in our rooms, and they would shout or yell "Vitals check!". Any time i went to take a shower or use the bathroom, I was screamed at by a nurse doing a "wellness check". They did this nonstop. By comparison, the younger black staff would always ask permission beforehand, especially since I communicated very clearly that I had a needle phobia. This is how they treated a 24 year old woman, who is a U.S citizen, who does not look like them. They operate on Racism and Revelations. I was not allowed a mask for the majority of my stay, despite clarifying that I reside with immunocompromised relatives.
