Fire/EMS Department
The Southington Volunteer Fire Department was founded in 1949 after a fire destroyed the home of the Beatty Family on State Route 305. The department started with only $20,000 with that they purchased a 1949 Dodge with a John Bean pump and the rest they built the fire station. Since then the department has grown and now consists of 5 units. These units include Engine 45 which is a 1997 Darley, Rescue 45 is a 2005 Rosenbauer, Tanker 45 is a 2001 Freightliner, Squad 45 is a 2010 Osage Super Warrior on a Chevy 4500 and Brush 45 is a 1999 John Deere 6 Wheeler.
