We hosted my son's 6th birthday celebration here and the staff did a great job of giving him the most special day! He loved having the ice to himself before opening. This was one of few places I could find in Denver that had the flexibility to accommodate a group of kids and parents together for a reasonable price. The booking process was easy, the ice was smooth, and location couldn't be beat! The only downside was that is was about zero degrees, but the crew didn't have any control over that. We would absolutely book here again :
4th graders skate free !!! My kids love to skate . They always have fun .
Lots of people but still alot of fun. Usually a beverage vendor out with hot drinks . The kids had a blast, so did I. But those ice skates always hurt my feet......
Got there right at open, and the ice was perfect and smooth if a little snow powdered. The ring was understaffed, but everyone was working hard our experience was great. My only complaint would be the skates themselves, since their hard ABS plastic shell was pretty uncomfortable. PS, street parking just north on Arapahoe was pretty open, at $2/hr.
Located near the Westin Downtown.. this was a cool location for a free skating rink. You do have to pay a small fee to rent skates, but admission is free. So if you have your own skates, it’s absolutely free! Good music and vibes. We went here with a bunch of friends visiting from FL and they loved it! They have support tools that you can use if you’re new to skating and they always had workers on the ice to monitor. Lots of fun!
Used to be a place I loved going. I’m so sad to say this rink has gotten horrible over the years. I had gone Christmas Eve and New Years Eve and both times the ice was snowy and it gradually became almost tough to move around and skate. I had jokingly asked an employee if they were bringing out the zamboni and he said it hadn’t been used almost all day and the person who was supposed to was absent. The lines were long all day and the few poor employees were not able to manage all the people. On New Years Eve, the place was a mess. It was completely packed, almost 2 hour wait in line and no waiver wristbands were being passed out. The ice was not being supervised by anyone and became very choppy and honestly dangerous. The music was cut off most the night and when it was playing it was often inappropriate and vulgar. It became so packed that they had a ‘temporary 15 minute close’ which became 30+ minutes. As a mountain of skates built up behind the register, other people just began to hand out their skates to those waiting in line. Sorry for the long review but this place needs to be fixed! I’m devastated its gotten this bad, most of the poor employees didn’t even look like they knew what they were doing. - long lines - completely understaffed - very bad ice - little management - packed to the brim - no or inappropriate music
Fun winter activity! Located near the Westin Downtown, this rink is great for visitors and locals alike. You can rent skates on-site or bring your own. Admission to the rink is free and their staff was impressively friendly and had a good holiday spirit - one women simply walked around greeting newcomers and wishing everyone a happy holiday, awww! The rink itself is small, but never that crowded, we went on a Friday evening and had plenty of room. It's decked out in holiday lights, including a Christmas Tree. They even had a DJ playing holiday remixes and classics. It's the perfect holiday tradition.
I’ve been to this rink many times over the season and I’ve never had an issue. But today I’ve had an encounter with someone called Julie. I was on the rink and I was targeted by her for using a ice skating walker, she stated I needed to pay extra for it which I was fine by that I handed over my credit card and asked for a receipt in which she said she couldn’t give me one and threw my card back at me and yanked the walker away from me half way in the rink. I got off the ice and went straight to the booth, in which I spoke to the manger and he didn’t seem to have an issue with me using a walker, I explained to him the issue and that I was willing to pay for it but that no one had explained to me that I had to. He then stated that I didn’t have to and that he would talk to Julie, pulling Julie off the ice and having a word with her, I was able to continue my skating. It seems like Julie is an actual issue, harassing skaters and being disrespectful as it was seemingly targeted towards some and not others.
Dirty and small nothing of a Rink. Way over sold and employees looked like they were powerless to limit people on the ice. I could also over hear the employees talking about not getting paid or just closing due to it. This didn't make my family feel like staying at all. Ice wasn't even cleaned. The homeless over take the rink so much so you have to leave or get harassed. We felt unsafe and couldn't wait to leave. Would give no stars if I could.
This place has gone downhill over the years. I was there this morning, Christmas Day. Ice was not in great shape; was "soft". Employee was arguing with a guest when I got there for hopping the fence because the entrance is hard to find and has been moved from where it was for at least the past 8 years. Employee was threatening not to give him a liability waiver wristband, though the guest was very apologetic. I left the ice when they started playing hip-hop holiday music that had the n-word in it. When I went to the skate rental booth to tell them, there were three young employees working inside. When I ask, "Is everyone here okay with the Christmas music playing that has the n-word in it?" They all just looked at me stone-faced, not saying a word, while one employee changed the music. Her new choice was "Baby Shark" which was a passive play of the opposite extreme and appeared intentional to annoy guests. Imagine they don't have an ASCAP or SESAC license to stream or play any of the songs to public. I write this for Denver Partnership so they know how things are. Just a bad vibe about the place this year. I will not be back.
