protection and preservation of life and property in Southwick.
The Southwick Fire Department is a public safety organization dedicated to providing the protection and preservation of life and property to Southwick, Ma residents, businesses, and visitors.
The organization of the Southwick Fire Department took place in early 1930. Mr. Benjamin Hastings was appointed Chief by the Board of Selectmen. There were 20 men who made up the roster of the first organized fire-fighting group. The credit for the training of the men and the success of the fire department belongs to Chief Benjamin Hastings. Through his efforts, the fire department became an important unit in the town.
Today The Southwick Fire department is staffed with four Career Firefighter/EMT's, 50 volunteer firefighter/EMT's, and a Full Time Fire Chief. SFD staffs one BLS ambulance 24 hours a day, seven days a week. SFD strides in fire prevention and responds to every emergency in the safest, efficient manner.
