We travel all over the country for work, and this park is definitely one of the best. It’s quiet other than a little road noise, clean the laundry room is cleaner than our own at home!, peaceful great for nature lovers, and the owners and caretakers clearly take pride in the property they are constantly outside keeping it clean and well maintained. Unlike other parks, there are no loose animals, there is plenty of space between spots, we felt safe walking throughout the property, and there are no old property eye-sores that exist at many other RV parks. We will definitely be back, and we are so thankful for the kind folks who work here. *Also, it rained several days while we were there, but our spot never flooded. The sites are well-graveled and level. Playground: We don’t have kids, but the playground looks like a lot of fun. Very clean and safe. Restrooms: Just like the laundry room, it’s spotless. Dog-friendliness: The caretakers loved our dog, and always wanted to love on him. The park is very clear about cleaning up after your pet, and it shows!
Spaulding Lake Campground Niles, Michigan: This campground gives the appearance of being a bit older and well established as you enter.   That doesn't mean that it's not well kept, because it is and the host we met was very pleasant. We had a pull through site and our site, like others here, was gravel and reasonably level.   Being almost 70' long It was just a little bit short for us to comfortably park our truck with our rig so we parked in a parking section directly across from us. During our stay it was pleasantly quiet and our 50 amp full hook up utilities were consistent throughout our stay.   Each site that we noticed had a fire ring and a picnic table alongside them.  There is also free WiFi here as well but like most campgrounds, it isn't the strongest or most consistent. They list having four lakes but they are really just large ponds, good enough for kids to drop a fishing line in but we sure weren't going to put our kayaks in just to go in a 100 foot circle.  We also walked the hiking trails that they say they have. Unless we missed something, most of them were only clear for a hundred feet or so and then you could not go any further. This campground has one of the largest playgrounds for kids I have ever seen and multiple places to walk your dog on a leash. There is no fenced dog area for playtime though and no pool.  There is a rec hall, but it looks as through it's full of stuff and hasn't been used for awhile.  The bath houses were clean and well maintained and the office has a very small  store for camping items. All In all, we wouldn't mind staying here again when passing through.
We came here as a half way point in travel. We found it to be exceptionally clean and well cared for. Tons of sunfish and a few bass keep kids busy fishing. 4 stars as the "swimming pond" is clearly defunct and is not appealing, it should likely be removed as an amenity. Staff was great. Will stay again. Beautiful place.
We camped in early July and it was a pleasant trip !!! we had a nice campsite by the fishing pond with a nice view. The facilities were very clean and well kept, everyone on the staff was very friendly !!! There are hiking trails a fishing pond and a place to swim. Very nice campground !!!
Great campground. Clean with nice size lots. Trout stream, even caught a few. Priced reasonable. Will come back again for sure. Also 40 minutes to Lake Michigan.
Checked the place out for future stays. Very clean grounds. Wide variety of shade on sites. Full hookup on each site is great.
- I have visited the, as commonly advertised “Spaulding Lake”, campground a total of 2 times in the past year. Which ironically they do not have any lakes on the property, just 3 man made ponds that are about 50 yards long. After the first unsatisfactory visit i decided to give it one last try. Same reoccurring issues happened. Poor Wi-Fi. The websites and advertising states multiple “dog/walk trails” when it is maybe a 30 second loop around a trash burn pile in the woods. The trails are over grown and not kept up with. The spaces are very tight with little to no privacy. While on the subject privacy, the owners are always driving around “patrolling” the sites and finding minor issues to complain about. Then come to find out they have their own RV site right in the center of the campground so they can surveillance everything the guests do. They constantly are staring around the corner and driving up to invade your privacy. I camp frequently and have not experienced a campground with staff/owners that do not respect your right to have privacy at this level.
Called to reserve a spot. Asked the lady if the tent sites had electricity, and she said yes. I told her I had a van and a tent and i wanted to reserve a spot for a week. I was told that i couldn't sleep in my van, I had to stay in a tent which was fine, but they wouldn't let me stay longer than ONE night. I told her their website said they had weekly and monthly rates, and she informed me tent dwellers were only allowed to stay one night. the weekly and monthly rates are for RVs only. I'm a vanlifer and this is absurd. the lady was very rude on the phone.
Wonderful quaint and quiet place. Beautiful and clean. Nature trails, fishing pond and super helpful, nice staff. Arrived here late at night after being very unhappy with a different campground and the woman on the phone without hesitation allowed me to drive in and find an open site at this campground and settle up in the morning. She was more than accommodating and we were so thankful. We will for sure be back. There are trees throughout and so peaceful.
Beautiful campground with nice sites. Nature/Walking trails & playground. Very clean and helpful staff. Dog-friendliness: There are specific areas for dogs & everyone does a good job of cleaning up after their pets.
