The facility is extremely dated with one shower per floor. The air conditioners in each room are barely adequate to cool a patient room with bedridden occupants, yet the gyms--which are the size of approximately 4 or 5 patient rooms-- are cooled by 2 of the antiquated air conditioners. Using the gym for PT in hot weather is dangerous. The mattress was so uncomfortable that I needed oxycodone for back pain each morning, even though I needed none at all for post-surgical pain relief. It took approximately 24 hours for my prescriptions from the hospital to be filled, so I missed two doses of meds. Dementia patients were interspersed with surgical rehab patients, so there were hours of screaming and wailing some days. Most of the staff was nice, but the place was a none-too-clean hellhole.
I was sent there last week for rehab after I fell and fractured both wrists and shoulder. It was recently bought by Marquis healthcare. I am hoping once they get stablized with the new owners it will improve. The food is typical hospital food, which leaves a lot to be desired. It looks like they need to hire more nurses and CNA's. I think they are overwhelmed with all the work. The PT and OT were good. The beds are very uncomfortable. There were some very good nurses who trying so hard to deliver good patient care. I asked to be discharged hone after two days...I gave them four days to set up my home care. Feeling so much better now that I am home. I thought I was being sent to Spaulding rehab which has a very good reputation so I was upset when I found out Spaulding no longer owns it.
If I could give zero stars, I would. My husband has been there for PT for amputation, of which he should never have been there. Amputations belong at the Charlestown Rehab, but they would not take him, so He was left to go to the North End. He has been there 3 days and the same used gloves, papers, gauze WITH BLOOD on it are still on the floor. I had to ask for bed linens from a NURSE so that I could change his bed, AFTER I washed him myself. They are beyond lacking. I'm fearful that the absolute filth EVERYWHERE will infect the amputation. There is NO Physical therapy on weekends, so he is left there to fend for himself. I have NEVER seen a rehab so filthy. How can it possibly pass a health inspection. Someone is being paid off.
It's not the fact that my 30y/o daughter is currently a resident there. It's not the fact that there is limited to no parking. Its the fact that my daughter is left to sit in her own feice for hours on end. It's the fact that I have asked a responsible party to arrange for a meeting with my daughter and her care givers almost three weeks ago. If this is a result of Obama care at its best, then put a round in my head when asked!
Great people and excellent professionals you have no other choice but to feel comfortable they provide excellent services.
