Spectrum Gallery
Open 12:00 – 5:00 PM Saturdays and Sundays and by appointment
Visit Spectrum Gallery on Lake Michigan and you will be greeted by one of our artists, inspired by the unique artwork in all media (for all pocketbooks as well) and charmed by the DeKoven Center’s Neo-English Gothic architecture and vistas. Enjoy strolling the spacious galleries, “The Lake Room”; “Rainbow Room”, “Louvre on the Lake”(painted in a deep color like many of the famous museum’s walls in Paris) and hallways and you will soon realize that Spectrum encourages and celebrates the individual creativity of each artist. You will even find excellent black and white artwork in the “Porcelain Gallery” (bathroom!) In the tradition of Mary Cassatt and Robert Henri, Spectrum Gallery does not rely on juries or contests to show the public “good art” but empowers artists to choose their own artwork for exhibition. Spectrum Gallery has been a vital part of the community since 1995.
Artists wishing to join the gallery may do so at any time throughout the year (the fee is pro-rated) and set exhibition schedules, get free use of the extensive Art Library, free use of the Matting and Framing Room, and 30% off of classes, workshops and studio fees. All sales go directly to the artist with a suggested 30% tax-deductible donation back to Spectrum. For more information, call Spectrum at (262) 634-4345.
Spectrum School
Founded in 1980 by Denise Zingg, Spectrum’s educational philosophy is providing effective individualized instruction to students of all ages by understanding each person’s learning style, abilities and goals facilitated by small classes (between 4 and 10 students per class) There is an emphasis on fundamentals as a basis for each student’s unique expression and many students continue to take classes year after year, trying new ideas and techniques and discover more facets of their creativity. Our students learn for life!
