Spooky's Swirls is the mobile concept bakery created by Valley Chefs Chris Szydlowski and Lola Forbes. We specialize in gluten free baking and pastries that are innovative and delicious. Our mission is to exist outside the box of conventional baking and mobile food by providing an alternative culinary experience that caters to gluten intolerance, vegan and vegetarian diets and foodies alike!
Chris Szydlowski is a self taught pastry chef, graduating with honors from the prestigious school of life. She dreams of making gluten free desserts in radically innovative and delicious ways. Heavily influenced by her dad, she mostly uses her artistic powers for good...mostly. Chris has evolved over 18 years in kitchens from Chicago, Dallas, New Jersey to NYC. She now calls Arizona home, residing in the East Valley with her wolf pack of chihuahua mixes and one grey kitty. When she's not rolling around the valley in her food truck, she can usually be found watching horror movies or collecting movie props. Be warned - inquiring about her movie prop collection could lead to her spinning off into another stratosphere of geekdom. Please do so at your own risk.
Lola Forbes grew up in Indiana with a family of excellent bakers, including her father a military cook and her grandmother Geneva who made the best biscuits ever from scratch! Lola transplanted to Arizona to attend Le Cordon Bleu where she graduated with honors. Pastry and baking have always been a way for her to combine her love of science and art, but gluten free baking especially so. If Lola doesn't have a whisk in her hand you may find her with a needle and thread, guitar, or garden trowel. Wherever the location, always ready to bake some serious cinnamon buns!
