Horrible, I was admitted here for suicide attempt. I would like to say that these staff do not treat you with kindness whatsoever. They don’t do as little to provide you with healthy meals and do not give you the right to refuse medicine when it seems suspicious that they up your dosage like 5 times in one month. I do not recommend admitting yourself here or having someone admit you here. Find someplace else!! Furthermore, the staff are lazy, unorganized, and unprofessional. It feels like prison!! You are constantly being harassed and mentally abused. Not to mention the physical abuse as well. I have bruises!! I hate spring grove, all they dis was my my mental state worse.
I was admitted here when I was a teenager. I told the staff was being abused at home and said what I had to to be admitted in hopes of getting taken into foster care or to my mother. They did nothing. Said I was making it up and needed to stop lying. Denied my request to not allow my dads gf to come visit. Put me on antidepressants that were too strong andmade me a zombie. I was out of it. They also upped the dosage 3 times I was there about 2 weeks. They would not allow us to wear shoes with laces for obvious reasons but also couldnt wear sandles, flipflops, or slippers outside of the room. Then we got yelled at if we tripped because our shoes wouldn't stay on our feet. In the 2 weeks I was there, we never went outside, and only went to the cafeteria twice. We were confined to our hall. Boys and girls had to stay at least arms length away from each other at all times or we were put in solitary. It was bad. The staff was very indifferent to us. They rarely interacted with us. We were not educated in anyway. We didnt even get therapy. Just more pills. And rules. I was only seen by the therapist once on the day I was discharged. They were a joke.
This place needs to be thoroughly investigated. I read a post about Lynne Howard. She was just the tip of the iceberg. She and other administrators were taking the medication samples, getting the doctors to write them prescriptions for narcotics and appetite depressants, and when they didn't she would steal them from her other job from a client at the homeless shelter she worked at joking that the woman was crazy and no one would believe her. Unfortunately Mrs. Howard wasn't the only one. This was pretty common right down to employees hooking up with clients. These people are completely deficient in morals.
Not worth rating. staff are mostly dishonest, lazy and very unfair in treating or advising the patients. It is a shame that our politician help small groups of minority run this place to their advantage collecting money and showing up to work since they are protected by the administration who are most dishonest.
This hospital center is so run down and horrible. I cant believe my son has to live there. There's no warmth to the place at all. I wish my son never left Clifton T Perkins, that was a beautiful place compared to Spring Grove. I feel so sorry and sick to my stomach for all the people that have to live there.
Don't work here if they don't accommodate your schedule. They are unorganized and basically want you to pick that job over your education. Im still in school with only less than three weeks left, they just fired me because I needed to miss one day from their training. So of course im going to pick my schooling first. Crazy thing is they all acted like I never told them I was in school, mind you I wore my school scrubs to my first interview and mentioned myself still being in school. Im not mad about my termination im upset they wasted my time, when I've changed my class schedule from mornings to evenings. Then missed days from school to get them information they needed for the hiring process. I spent 50 bucks out of my money for fingerprints for nothing. I wish I would've known this sooner instead of making sacrifices for a job. Then they made me wait a good 15 minutes just to tell me Im going to be terminated. To me the whole process was very unprofessional, and offered that I should reapply when my schedule is free. As if I'd waste time to reapply for the same unorganized, unprofessional crap over again... A complete waste of my time.
My mom is still in this lame place. The staff don't keep family up-to-date and they also act like they could care less about patients definitely because it's a state facility. If we could transfer her for actual care we would do so.
They really help you get back to normal
Don't work here unless you can't get a job anywhere else. Either way you will regret your decision if you take a job at this place. Low pay, petty state employees who don't want to do there jobs, and some weird nigerian connection in the nursing department.
Im calling now with no answer
