I spent 8 hours in the ER after losing vision temporarily in one eye which can be a sign of blood clot/stroke.... In those 8 hours I only had bloodwork and a Ct-scan which results I waited for 4 hours. Those results were normal and I was discharged. When I accessed MyChart to see the details, I noticed that those results were wrong or they were no mine since they identified an organ that I don't have. I called 5 times to the ER and I would be put on hold and they would hang up the phone. The last time that I call, one person took my name and said that the issue was that the radiologist uses a dictation machine that can occasionally make mistakes. She also said that she will ask the radiologist to correct that report. My concern is that this report needs to be reviewed and not edited since I still can be at risk of having an stroke. I've made copies of these reports before the edition and will go to a different center to make sure that everything is fine. If my case is not properly reviewed and addressed by Saint Barnabas I will proceed with legal action. The only positive thing about this center was my primary nurse, who was ashamed that I needed to wait for that long for the results. Other than that, I wouldn't recommend this center to anyone.
Let me start off by saying, I’ve been to emergency rooms before west long branch for past medical problems… that we’re not as clean or efficient as this hospital. Went in July 4th around 130pm, waited 10min max in the waiting room and was brought in and seen by a nurse who was very friendly and got right to the tests. Waited about an hour for a cat scan and then about 45 minutes for the results of all the tests. The doctor came in multiple times in between and was informative and friendly. Don’t listen to the other reviews who want 0 wait times for everything, it’s a hospital, expect to wait for tests. I’ve waited 4-8 hours for similar tests at other hospitals, this one is great! I hope to never return but if I had to, I’d prefer this one.
I had a 5 days stay at the hospital. Iwas treated very Kindly. There was a very long wait at the emergency room. I ended up being admitted after testing. I was kept in a covid free wing but then it was closed and I went to the West wing which is apparently the new wing. Although it is absolutely gorgeous I felt like a prisoner not being able to move from my bed or chair without setting off alarms. I understand it's a safety procedure but its extremely frustrating to be in a huge room and confined. In addition the nurses are overworked BUT still very caring and responsive. My nurse at the west wing Chrissy was absolutely amazing. In addition there is a NO VISITOR RULE in place. So. My entire stay was ALONE and honestly caused stress, BUT I understand. During my 5 day stay I had xrays, a cat scan, testing, a transfusion and two surgeries!! I'm going home soon. I feel blessed to have gone to ST. Barnabas Livingston or I may not be writing this.
My mother went to Clara Mass over 3 times and they could not figure out what was wrong with her. They were rude and you had to chase down the doctors there just to get a meaningless update. But when we came here, they treated her right away. Within 3 days they have drastically improved her health and we have more knowledge than we did before. We were hesitant especially because the medical system despised black people with a passion. But so far, all is going well.
Do not come here. If you can spare 20 minutes drive to Overlook!!!! This place used to be incredibly caring and efficient; all of that is lost. Severe symptoms and all; never saw a doctor. Nurse practitioner red head Nicole was nice at first but then tried to discharge me with no information from my labs. Definitely will avoid coming here if necessary
This could possibly be the worst ER I have ever experienced. Was here with a spouse who was waiting to be admitted. For hours we listened to a multitude of people vomiting and gagging into small plastic bags in the waiting room, sick people waiting for 6-8 hrs for care, dirty floors, no seats for sick people…I could go on and on. I would rather suffer at home than come here ever again. I cannot believe this hospital is highly rated. What could the standards possibly be? I will say the 2 residents and 1 PA we met were very nice and capable. You could tell they were embarrassed about the conditions and the wait.
We brought our 6 year old daughter to the emergency room at Saint Barnabas in the middle of the night after she was experiencing a croup-like cough and was having difficulty breathing. The staff, nurses, and physicians assistants were very quick to react, yet were so calm that they never made any of us worry. The efficiency with which they were able to diagnose her, provide the necessary treatments, and discharge us was remarkable. They were very attentive and were able to answer any and all of our questions prior to discharge. We truly cannot say enough about the care our daughter received at the Saint Barnabas. We are so grateful to all of the employees for their expertise and compassion.
I am currently in the ER with chest and back pain for an hour with no triage of EKG. This is absolutely unacceptable. My blood pressure is spiked and I'm just sitting here short of breath in pain. Never Again
Came to the er as per the suggestion of my doctor who is affiliated with the group. Worst mistake of my life. Currently suffering from dehydration and acute nausea and the staff couldn’t be any more unfriendly. Have been in the waiting room for two hours already. When asked if they have any idea on how long of the wait was- I was told you just sit down and wait since the wait is anywhere from 4-5 hours. Save yourself the hassle and go to another er where they will actually care if you are sick. Had I known, I would have gone to another er and been already started on my treatment.
Please don’t come here, if you need good medical treatment. I had one of the Nurses named Kellie that had great knowledge, and cared . I’m in the medical field myself and I never seen how much pressure the Nurses had . The Nurses here are over worked! Also don’t interrupt a NURSE, while she’s giving an IV treatment on Iron . My cousin works as a ICU charge Nurse and she doesn’t treat her NURSES like these . I took my partner to that hospital, because he needed a referral to see a Specialist. My partner has chronic bleeding. I was following the protocol, because I have the knowledge. I got the referral that we needed , but the PA lied to us about calling the specialist. The office that’s affiliated with the hospital never received the call nor the referral. I believe these hospitals is worse than a 3 WORLD country. I felt like I was in another country, and not AMERICA. I guess they treat people, with state insurance like their trash . My partner only has these insurance, because he needs it at the moment. I didn’t appreciate the treatment from the PA nor the charge Nurse. I hope they read these and realize ,why they decided to be in the medical field. I hope they remember that they have a family and they can also be a patient in pain, and hurting. I believe that nobody should be feeling entitled, when you have a license. I really hope that something gets done , because these is AMERICA. So please don’t come here , if you want to get treated like a trash .
