I have gone to this ER in the past and didn’t always have the best experience. There was one doctor that continuously made me feel terrible about coming in. They missed my blockages in my stomach numerous times. I have some medical issues - one that is very rare …. most doctors dismiss me because they don’t know how to treat me. This most recent few times I was in this ER, it was excellent. The doctors to the nursing staff. They didn’t miss a beat. They all worked together and every one of them knew exactly what they had to do. Excellent ER. Whatever changes they made really made this visit a world of a difference. Thank you
It’s very difficult to leave an elderly parent alone in a hospital. We are so appreciative of the genuine care and concern shown to her by all the staff at St. Charles. Special thanks to Nursing Assistant Nicole on the third floor. Wow, she just goes above and beyond to show kindness to the patient AND family. She is an energizer bunny as well! We appreciate everyone, thanks so much.
They had me wait for over 3 hours in the hospital bed as I was scheduled for surgery. I arrived a bit earlier at 8:30AM and they told me the patient ahead of me is in a 3 hour surgery and taking longer than usual. Does nobody here communicate about scheduling, efficacy, professionalism? I FINALLY had my turn at 3pm. Then at 6pm, I came out of surgery, still sedated, and they rushed me out of the hospital. I didn't even get time to sleep off the anesthesia. No, the nurses were just in a rush to go home. Screw patient comfort and safety, right? Never attending this facility again.
My husband & my father have been here numerous times in the past year or so. No hospital is “perfect” because there’s always procedural interference/ politics whatever you want to call it. That being said , anyone local who rates this hospital very low, has not had a loved one in a terrible hospital like I have. At St charles, the majority of the staff are caring , fun and friendly not to mention great at their jobs. 3w pediatric floor has a terrific staff. Thank you Jackie , Teresa and all others. Hospital is clean , visitation has been terrific even all through beginning stages of COVID unlike SB which is constantly a hassle. Parking is easy and all security guards that I’ve encountered are terrific. ED is the most frustrating here but it’s still way better than the SB and most ED in any hospital is sort of a mess with constant lapses in communication.
Like clock work Ambulatory for pain 8.15 am appointment and in I went for a 6 hour procedure One nurse in charge of me Donna Diaz RN Calmly , thoughtful , patient. Explained every step of the way. What I may feel , how I’ll be when I awake. Donna was humorous, and made sure I felt I was in the proper hands with her knowledge and personality. Being in the hospital is stressful but not always shown outwardly. Feeling your in expert care calms you I was lucky enough to have Donna in charge.
Over the years I’ve had family member have extensive stays at St.Charles. As a whole the staff are wonderful people. They are a group of people who very clearly have been trained to be patient, helpful and sympathetic to every individual both patients and their loved ones that steps foot inside their hospital.
First I wanted to say how happily surprised I am. St. Charles Hospital in Port Jefferson, NY is 100% the absolute BEST. I was just there for an endoscopy on 12/2 10:30 with Doctor Nirav Desai and everything went great. All the staff was incredibly phenomenal, they really care about their patients and take their careers very seriously. All my nurses were just Excellent nurse Amanda, Jennifer, can’t remember all of them but thank you very much for everything you guys do and for really taking your jobs seriously while also risking your lives. Nurse Amanda was soo nice!!! She deserves to earn Top Salary. She really cares about her position. Always checking on me to make sure I was okay and not hungry. I really appreciate Amanda. Her nurse Friend James ASU manager really deserves to earn Top salary too, he is always singing and laughing and just Happy all the time, transferring that happy energy to his coworkers and patients. He is the best too!! We need the happy spirit during this hard times especially when people to go the hospitals. We the public really appreciate that!!! You guys are absolute Heroes!!! God Bless you all. I really am surprised because I wasn’t expecting such great doctors, nurses and great staff. They treated me wonderful. From the receptionist all the way to the Doctors, you guys are great. I really can’t wait for my bypass Bariatric surgery!!!! This is one of the best hospitals ever!!!!!! I’ve been to South Side Hospital in bayshore and its just horrible. The staff don’t even care about their patients and they make you wait hours even if you are in pain. Completely the opposite to St. Charles Hospital in Port Jefferson, Ny Again, Thank you very much and never change please!!! We need more doctors, nurses and staff like you guys!!! You guys are the best!!!
If I could rate this hospital zero stars I would. Recently in early August 2022 my brother went here for rehab following major surgery. This place is grossly understaffed, lacks adequate medical staff. He had to be placed in ICU due to in my opinion gross neglect. Needed to speak to a doctor while he was in ICU told by the ICU nurse to stand in the hall and wave at anyone in a Whitelaw coat. Beware and forwarned this place is a total nightmare. Stay away at all costs. Go to Mather Hospital just up the block.
My daughter had her baby on February 3rd, 2023. We had the worst experience in the maternity department. The staff was nasty, without empathy, heartless, no compassion. They didn't help the new parents to go through the beautiful time of having a newborn in a peaceful way, they made their lives miserable, and stressful.
I am scheduled for a hip replacement 11/2 and have yet to meet with my doctor, Dr. Hart. When I try to contact him I am told to call his administrative assistant. I want to talk to my doctor! I have questions I feel my doctor should answer. I hope he even shows up for my surgery of has his administrative assistant do the procedure. I am not impressed with Dr.Hart or St Charles.
