St. Joseph Church (Ansonia, Connecticut)

Description

St. Joseph Parish is a church designated for Polish immigrants in Ansonia, Connecticut, United States.Founded in 1925, it is one of the Polish-American Roman Catholic parishes in New England in the Archdiocese of Hartford.HistoryIn June 1925, Bishop John J. Nilan appointed Vincentian Fr. Aloysius Zielenznik, C.M., as pastor of the new St. Joseph Parish. The priest's first Mass for the Polish congregation was celebrated on July 12, 1925, at a Central St. hall rented from an Italian society. The church was dedicated on September 6, 1926. Ten days later, St. Joseph School opened, staffed by the Sisters of the Holy Family of Nazareth. The parish had long felt the need of a church bell that would summon the faithful to church services. Their desires to have a church bell were realized in 1950 when Fr. Casimir Kwiatkowski passed through Winchester, New Hampshire, and noticed a bell for sale in front of a Protestant church. He made inquiry and purchased the bell, valued at $3,000, for $495. On the occasion of administering the sacrament of Confirmation in the parish, October 14, 1950, Bishop Henry J. O'Brien, D.D. blessed the century old bell and named it Casimir. The bell was rung for the first time on November 1, 1950, the day the dogma of the Assumption was solemnly proclaimed in Rome by Pope Pius XII.

I attended this school when I was a child. The worst experience I’ve ever had in my life. The priests, nuns, teachers Were horrible and me not being the perfect child having indigenous roots I was highly mistreated by the kids and it was covered up by the priests and nuns because they were friends with the parents from the parish. A few other kids again they were non-white or tormented bleed and again the teachers and staff condoned it. History class was an absolute joke they tried to cover up so many things and teach what only they wanted to be taught for example i Once brought up the topic about Native American genocide in seventh grade and I was told that the reason for this was because they refused to accept Christianity and follow God’s faith. So let me ask you something you say it’s OK for mass genocide and encourage it on behalf of your God??? So what kind of glad you were ship Saint Joseph school? A God who wants to see kids bullied tormented and hurt? When the American Indian movement close out all the Catholic parishes I will make sure to have this one ridiculed publicly for what they’ve tried to cover up and help evil evil evil they are!!!!
We had a private mass here last night for my grandma who passed away in Poland. The service was absolutely beautiful. It touched all of us. Thank you
Father Mitch is the absolute greatest. He's very kind, attentive to your problems, and offers solutions. He's also known to help out with food. Try him if you're in need. He has helped a friend of mine several times when he couldn't find food.
Very nice Catholic Church in Ansonia. Plenty of parking.
Remember it well. Still can't get past nuns hitting us around as a child
