Google maps took me to the back of the building to a dead end oy and then the south entrance was closed I went in a Saturday and had to drive around front. Fun little trip lol But, it was super clean on the inside. The lady that checked me in was friendly. I had to get x-rays so the walk back there was nice. The radiology staff was super friendly. Oh and visited the bathroom and that was clean. Funny the tp is up high though lol Seems like a great hospital.
A couple weeks ago, I had an appointment in neurology with Dr. Keane. From the moment I made the appointment, I was so surprised with how kind and wonderful his receptionist was. The second I walked into neurology, my experience was a 12/10. I do not say this lightly because my health problem makes me a frequently flyer at various specialist’s offices, which I normally travel long distances for. Reception, the nurse and Dr. Keane himself were so personable. They made me laugh and were sincerely focused on me and my health. Dr. Keane was thorough and took the time to get to know me. I was almost dumbfounded by how wonderful my appointment was. Neurology should serve as an example for the rest should follow by. I also, would like to give credit to day surgery where my mom receives daily IVs. The nurses have been amazing. They make sure she is comfortable and make me confident that she is receiving the best care. Without going into specifics, this team has shown more knowledge, expertise and care than other care providers at a much more renowned hospital. Specifically, there is a nurse, Jamey, who goes above and beyond every morning that I bring her in. He listens to her and knows exactly what she needs. She has also told me how wonderful her night nurses are, though, I unfortunately do not know their names. If I am being honest, until the past couple weeks, I would have given one star. I had significant problems with St. Joes over past years. I would always travel anywhere else for my specialists or hospital care. However, I feel that these experiences show change, and I hope a positive trend as a hospital toward the better.
I have heart disease and currently listed for heart transplant. When I was referred a year ago to heart smart program was unable to walk to the shower without becoming weak and short of breath. With heart smart therapists supervision and conditioning over the last year I am stronger, can walk, have less trouble breathing and can get up from a seated position. I haven't fallen and I feel safer exercising. According to my transplant team I am in much better shape to survive my upcoming surgery. The heart smart team has helped me..Thanks to them all!
Emergency room did not treat my pregnant fiancé with concern but instead made her feel belittled and crazy. Nurses kept looking at each other and making looks when she was talking about her symptoms. In my opinion, very unprofessional given that this is an emergency room and she is concerned for the baby’s life. Just asking for a bit more compassion.
I’ve delivered DoorDash orders multiple times to this hospital and loved the staff. That’s why I decided to come the emergency room here last Thursday. I had the WORST experience. The only part of my experience that I loved was my EKG lady and the younger Asian lady who helped me. I was not given the “call for help” button upon arrival. I came in for severe chest pain and they only got 2 vials of blood from me. They need 6 for a full cardiovascular look over. I went hours w/o seeing my nurse, or hearing any updates. The lady who took my vitals was extremely unfriendly. I understand I came in at 11PM and working that late sucks, but I also didn’t want to be there. A huge plus from my experience was that I learned how to detach an IV from myself when I need to go to the bathroom. Since I had no “call for help” button, I didn’t see my nurse for hours, and I REALLY needed to pee, I had to YouTube how to safely detach my IV. That’s ridiculous. I heard 3+ staff members laughing and gossiping out by the desk when I was struggling to go to the bathroom. The nurse who took my blood was also very good at her job. I’ve gotten my blood taken many times so I know how it should feel. Despite me being severe dehydrated, she got the vein on the first try. The EKG lady helped me take my bra off as well. I felt very comfortable with these women. Overall, I was left stranded multiple times, my doctor treated me like I had no business being there, I did not receive half the care I needed, and my release paperwork was incorrect. My respiration was 48 normal is like 10/14 ish and nobody helped me. I will never come back here.
St. Joes was the perfect place to have our baby. Every nurse in labor and delivery was so kind and helpful to us. They took great care of mom, baby, dad, and visitors. They were knowledgeable and supportive during the labor process, and amazing assets postpartum while I figured out nursing, swaddling, etc. We also loved the spiritual aspect of the sisters coming in to bless our baby after his birth. I would have my future babies there in a heartbeat.
I went to the breast imaging center for a diagnostic mammogram due to a concern. I was very pleased that the radiologist read the scans while I was there, and came in and gave me the results before I left. When you are concerned and worried about something, being able to have the results immediately was very much appreciated. Also I've had mammograms done at different places, in different states, and this was the best as far as the technician and the process. The setting was warm and welcoming, everything about the experience was positive.
My Breast Cancer came as a big shock. I chose Doctor Sallee Jones a my Surgeon because I witnessed her amazing care of my Mother years before at St. Josephs. Dr. Jones and the entire staff in the General Surgery Department were supportive and incredibly helpful in handling my surgery as well as all of the followup procedures and appointments. I would recommend them to anyone and am greatful that I found the right people to take care of me. I would also like to add that the staff at the St. Joe's Breast Imaging Center are beyond Excellent!!! They were so supportive and helped me through a very stressful time in my life. Thank you all. I most enthusiastically recommend the Radiation Oncology department at St. Joseph’s. Not only were Dr. Fairbanks and his staff competent, friendly, and professional; but I was provided with information about new and alternative treatments which I had not encountered before. This has led to a far better outcome than I had expected, and I am very grateful!
The negative first. The billing system, if correctly billed is fairly easy to navigate. The issue is if billing is incorrect, they do not respond to electronic inquiries through the billing site. They are hard to understand if calling in. And they are REAL slow to resolve issues. Now the positive. Scheduling, reminders, coordination of care, nursing and provider have all had excellent care and service. The doctor listens to my concerns and takes the time to explain. Administration is great to work with also.
