I was here for an event hosted by a local professional society which included dinner and drinks followed by a curling lesson and team competition on the sheet. The staff was friendly and professional and obviously enjoyed sharing their enthusiasm for the sport. After a buffet dinner, we were shown an introductory video on curling and then a live demonstration of skills and scoring. I found the physics of curling to be fascinating. Next we teamed up and began our fledgling attempts in the various positions which demonstrated to me that there is more to the sport than appears from watching it on television and video. Fortunately staff were there to coach. Their suggestions were helpful and they demonstrated and coached techniques for different levels of physical ability. The Saint Paul Curling Club is not the only such club in the Twin Cities however it is the one with the most storied history which is on display in the comfortable club house. The upstairs is where the bar is located and provides tables and seating for what I estimate to be at least 70 people although I would check with them if you are interested in booking an event. There are video monitors available that were used for the instructional video. For a professional society, I thought this was an excellent venue and although it is a yearly event, this was my first time attending. I am already looking forward to next year.
playing spring league for the first time as a new curler. was pretty nervous to play but everyone was helpful, kind, and generous. can't wait to keep playing and hanging out at my new club.
My daughter curls at this club, and I always enjoy visiting and watching her play. This club has a fairly good viewing area on the lower sheet level and a nice lounge and viewing area on the second floor. However, if your curlers are playing on sheets 7 & 8, it's hard to see them when on the second level.
A five star place in every way. Excellent people, kind and welcoming company, and damn good curling.
One of my favorite spots in the area. Friendly atmosphere and nice tables in the second floor bar. Cheap pitchers but cash only. I don't curl but enjoy watching with friends, basically a great bar with a free show ;
Fun to watch the sport, but rarely open to the public except during public tournaments.
We love curling at the St. Paul curling club! Home to Team Peterson and other great and fun people. Full bar and restaurant open every evening with curling.
The food was delicious! Great fun!
The St Paul Curling Club is a historic place in St Paul. The members are amazing and welcoming to anyone who stops by. The beer is cheap and food is great and if you've never watched curling before the is always someone more than willing to help you understand the game. Don't be shy, stop in sometime during the winter and see what all the fuss is about. Curling rocks!
Best kept secret in cathedral hill. Super friendly atmosphere.
