This is the best ymca I ever been too since I was a kid. I gotta say the slides are really fun and chilling in the kitty pool is fun as well. I kinda lost my precious bracelet once in those things that were aside of the pool but never told anyone. I miss being here
I'm not coming here anymore. I was literally sitting down near the walk charging my phone before my workout and the staff continually kept coming up to me harassing me and would not lay off. Then finally she made me leave the ymca after I got done doing handstand push-ups. It's not my fault that Im not a jealous freak like the new age Karen's that walk around in today's world we live in.
The staff here is friendly AND helpful unlike most of the staff at the #ymcamidway location! The facility is outdated and not as "comfortable" feeling as some of the other locations and the pool area is way outdated. The clientele is mostly retired seniors so there's typically never any of the reckless eyeballing from guys that I experience at other gyms. All in all it's a good place to go for a good #workout #thatsthereal #realreviews #fitnessreviews #gymlife #reviews #mpls #saintpaul #minnesota #minnesotareviews #mnreviews #thereal
I have visited many YMCA’s. But when it comes to Saint Paul they really don’t have any good ones. I visited Y’s in downtown, east side and west side. They have huge place but they really need to upgrade them. On East side I was told they didn’t have barbell racks with different weights and was asked to you the generic barbel instead. They also don’t have sufficient bench’s or cardio equipments they have like 7-8 treadmills, 1-2 stair, 2-3 elliptical. They badly lack in gym equipments. For the amount of monthly fees they charge it’s not a recommended place if you plan on using it as a gym. They do have a really nice swimming pool and two basketball courts. That’s pretty much they have to offer. Since I have been to Y’s in different cities I really expected them to have a good standards. Conclusion not worth the membership price if you want to use it as a gym! Period Update: I had submitted in request for physical assessment twice. I got two emails saying someone will be calling me soon. I haven’t heard back from them at all! It has been over two weeks since I last put in request. It just shows that they don’t care. I usually enjoy Y’s but having worst experience with Y’s in here. So reducing my rating to 1 star and i have cancelled my membership.
Great Staff at this location across the board. Eastside makes you feel welcome and appreciated as a member. If your looking for a Membership talk to Robert he will make sure you get the best deal available.
Friendly and helpful staff. Equipment is in good condition. The gym equipment area is a bit small, but it has decent variety. If you are tall, you may notice most machines are set to a lower height then typical. Swimming area is good for the kids.
Staff is great, perfect location for us as it's close to home BUT our only complaint is that little kids are allowed to run around screaming while we do our exercises. Roommate is blind so he relies on his hearing a lot and although it's understandable that it's going to be noisy, he can get used to everything but the sudden screams of unruly kids in his face. We haven't said anything to the staff as we're sure this place is more for kids than grown men. We go late in the evenings mostly now and don't swim any more.
Becoming increasingly frustrated with the cleanliness of the family locker room. The floors are always dirty in the showers. No one wants to drive home nasty sweaty or chlorine pool wet, so showers are a given after working out and/or swimming. Another irritation is when a grown person usually men are in the family locker room by themselves. When I am there without my boys, I use the individual locker room and these grown people should too. Family locker rooms should be used for people with families not someone who wants to hold up a shower for 20 minutes and stare at my kids as they dry their swimsuits. Otherwise the equipment is well maintained and the pool is pretty clean.
I tried to come redeem a 5 day trial but felt completely unwelcome. They pulled up my file and saw that I paid to go swimming at a different location & apparently used a free pass years ago, which I don't remember, and then started questioning me about actual intentions on getting a membership and abusing the trial pass system. Kind of sad, not much places to stay fit on the Eastside and this is how they are treating people.
