Helping Our Neighbors In Need
St. Vincent de Paul Madison provides mulitple programs for people in need throughout Dane County.
1) The Food Pantry- We operate our Food Pantry which is the County's largest. A share of the food provided through our food pantry is purchased with money raised from our Thrift Store sales.
2) Voucher program- providing vouchers to low-income families for clothing, beds, furniture and basi household supplies.
3) Prescription Medications for uninsured low-income people who have critical health concerns like heart disease, high blood pressure, diabetes and mental health.
4) Housing for Men, Women and Children- At any one time over 50 men, women and children reside in housing operated in Madison by the Society of St. Vincent de Paul. We operate Port St. Vincent de Paul (a home for men) and St Elizabeth Ann Seton House (transitional housing for women and children). Our six thrift stores provide the residents with clothes, furniture, and household items.
5) Vinny's Lockers- a program and facility for homeless people to store their possessions.
In 2011 we donated:
-Over $1,300,000 worth of food to more than 64,000 people
-Over $220,000 worth of clothes to low-income people
-Over $208,000 worth of furniture and beds to help the homeless after they find housing
-Over $85,000 of prescription assistance
Our world-wide mission is to help our neighbors in need through one-on-one contact of volunteers with children, families, the homeless and other people in need. Our volunteers continually strive to promote the dignity of the people they serve, help to alleviate their suffering and distress and work to correct conditions that cause these problems.
Mulitple programs provide needed services for low-income individuals throughout Dane County.
