St Vincent's East Family Medicine Residency is an unopposed residency located in Birmingham, AL.
Established in 1977, St. Vincent’s East Family Medicine Residency Program (formerly Medical Center East) in Birmingham, Alabama is a community-based, solo residency program dedicated to a strong tradition of excellence in patient care, service and medical education.
Faculty members bring a wealth of experience and broadly varied talents to the program contributing to a balanced and well-rounded educational program. All faculty members are board certified and hold volunteer clinical faculty appointments with University of Alabama School of Medicine.
The residency clinic patient base is diverse in many respects, including age, social and economic strata, race, and ethnicity. Such a multiplicity of patients adds depth and further value to an already outstanding clinical situation.
In over 30 years, more than 125 physicians have been trained in Family Medicine earning the respect of medical staffs, patients, and communities over many states. Many graduates remain in Alabama to practice in a wide variety of clinical settings: rural and urban, solo and group, inpatient and outpatient, academic and community-based.
