Stadium–Armory station

Description

Stadium–Armory is an island-platformed Washington Metro station in the Kingman Park neighborhood of Southeast Washington, D.C., United States. The station was opened on July 1, 1977, and is operated by the Washington Metropolitan Area Transit Authority (WMATA). Stadium–Armory serves the Blue, Orange and Silver Lines. It is a transfer station for the Blue/Silver and Orange lines, as this is the last station shared by the three lines before the lines diverge going east. The station has entrances on 19th Street at C Street and Independence Avenue. The station was supposed to be the Silver Line's eastern terminus, but in December 2012, due to safety concerns regarding a pocket track between this station and Minnesota Avenue (the first station to the east on the Orange Line), Metro officials decided to extend the line into nearby Prince George's County, Maryland to Largo Town Center, which is the eastern terminus of the Blue Line.

Went through here on Saturday August 13, 2022. As I put money on my card I witnessed no less than 8-10 people simply jump the turnstile and avoid paying. This happened as 2 workers inside the booth watched this happen and said nothing. Why are the rules not enforced? If you want to save money for these free riders get rid of the worthless folks working in these booths and their salaries can compensate for the lost revenue.
I'm giving Stadium Armory four stars because there's been a ton of new construction here in the last few years. RFK is scheduled to be demolished in the spring of 2023. Its still petty sketchy here at night but it's pretty safe during daylight hours. It's a good stop if you need to get to the Eastern end of H Street NE which is like a ten minute walk away. Make sure your walk is also done in daylight hours.
Best and last stop on the Orange and Blue line. The staff here are very kind and caring. Conveniently located by DC Armory, RFK stadium, Lincoln Park etc. No place like home. Raised in this part of the city for more than 10 years and i love how not much has changed. I can tell you it don’t matter how quiet you are and how much you mind your own business, people gone try you. Advice to outsiders traveling through here that don't feel safe, be cautious, calm, quiet and minding your own business will keep you safe in general let alone here LOL.
Stadium-Armory Metro Station is the last stop on the Orange/Blue/Silver line before going over the Anacostia River. It's one block from the RFK Stadium and a few blocks from Lincoln Park and the Pretzel Bakery. There are two entrances and the entrance furthest away from the RFK Stadium is where strollers can take the elevator down.
