Such a great hidden jem. It's been almost 30 years since I've been here. The beach is just gorgeous. The tide wasn't low enough for the sea caves to the south, but still amazing. Be prepared for the stairs on the way home! They are steep, but manageable. I read that it's 218 steps and my legs are still feeling it days later. Parking is a challenge, so get there earlier in the day.
Nestled along the picturesque coastline of Southern California, 1000 Steps Beach is a delightful seaside haven that seamlessly blends relaxation with invigorating physical activity. This hidden gem offers a serene escape from the bustling city life while also providing an excellent workout opportunity with its iconic staircase – truly a destination that caters to all types of beachgoers. The highlight of 1000 Steps Beach is, without a doubt, the staircase that gives the beach its name. Comprising exactly 200+ steps, this challenging ascent provides a heart-pumping workout for fitness enthusiasts and those seeking a bit of adventure.
Most beautiful beach with added non-negotiable workout. Check it’s low tide if you want to explore the sea caves, Get here early, wear some cute workout clothes & climb down the 200 steps - about 100 down & 100 up. It can get crowded so be prepared to park on the street. They have a shower area at the bottom & a restroom, but only one of each. They don’t allow drink or smoking or collecting of seashells or rocks. There has always been lifeguards when I go. The sea caves are to the far left once you climb down the stairs which is the only reason I come.
Stairs are super narrow!! Don’t go here during high tide because you aren’t allowed to walk on the rocks and can’t reach the cool pool spot. Cute little secluded beach where you can look at the mansion houses on the hills and enjoy the ocean. Free street parking.
I used to go here as a child, and while it's not exactly 1,000 steps it is a TON to get down to the beach. If they have the funicular running I highly recommend that, it's a fun relaxing ride as well. Lots of space to lay out, sand isn't rocky or uncomfortable, and waves are minor but do kick up at times.
Beautiful beach! Parking is a little tough because it’s small entrance and attached to private beaches that are part of homes but if you can make the parking work and the 1000 steps the beach is beautiful. There are restrooms and it’s a nice small cove like feel. Definitely worth the visit!
The walk down is fast, the walk up is a good workout pain lol. Nice beach area. Got a cave too, but when i went, tide was rolling in. Still pretty awesome.
1000 steps beach is always fun to visit, and the leg workout is intense climbing back of thos steps. It's not really 1000 steps but it feels like it. I don't recommend taking down any heavy objects. You're just going to have to carry them back up. We went at sunset and it was absolutely gorgeous. The water was warm as well which was a treat.
Saw a pack of like 10 dolphins right by surfers. Such a small but beautiful beach.
Lets just skip over the part of finding parking since it's just street parking so good luck to those who wish to come here. This is one of the cleaner and less crowded beaches because of the limited parking. We had a great time here bringing our beach umbrella and table set up so that we were just chilling on the beach in style! There was quite a bit to explore here but unfortunately I didn't learn about the hidden pools till after, but that's fine. It just means there'll be more to explore next visit.
