This agency has been built on a solid foundation of integrity, honesty, and hard work. Jim Mathews’ grandfather, James H. Starr, started the agency in 1920 to serve the community of Calhoun, Georgia. In 1953 Mr. Starr was joined by his son in law, Bill D. Mathews. The agency expanded to include offices throughout Northwest Georgia. As the third generation family member, Jim Mathews joined the agency in 1977 and we are now proud to welcome a fourth generation with Robert and Barton Mathews.
As an independent agency Starr-Mathews represents over thirty financially sound insurance companies and specialty markets. Through our core values and these company partnerships we act as advocates for our customers in the insurance market for their various insurance needs.
