Steak 'n Shake, a classic American brand, was founded in 1934 in Normal, Illinois by Gus Belt who pioneered the concept of premium burgers and milkshakes.

For over 80 years, the company’s name has been symbolic of its heritage. The word “steak” stood for steakburger. The term “shake” stood for hand-dipped milkshakes. Gus was determined to serve his customers the finest burgers and shakes in the business.

Today, Steak 'n Shake remains the “better burger” leader, serving premium 100% beef steakburgers, hand-dipped milkshakes, thin crispy fries, and more. Steakburgers are made without preservatives or artificial ingredients, topped with fresh produce, and always hand-crafted to order. Other classics include the Frisco Melt, 7x7, Prime Steakburgers, and fan favorite M&M milkshakes.

Dining area and Bathrooms were very clean. Food was cooked perfectly and in my opinion a great value. It takes a little bit to learn the new kiosk ordering system, but it is not that difficult. Overall I would give it an excellent rating.
I have never been one to ever experience or expect cleanliness with a Steak 'n Shake, but at least the food was great, for a cheap and quick bite. After being extendedly closed for Covid, I kind of hoped that they would have taken the time to thoroughly scrub the entire place. Sadly, it doesn't seem like it. We've been back a few times and have been disappointed. The burger patties are almost paper thin now, there's no more mac 'n cheese on the menu for kids, wait staff have been replaced with computers, and the bathrooms are disgusting. This past visit, the toilets in both bathrooms were either trashed, not flushed/clogged, or completely broken, along with the soap dispensers. Both restrooms appeared that like they had not been cleaned in a long time. The smell was absolutely repulsive. Unfortunately, we're probably going to stop visiting.
Sat where I could see in the kitchen. The stove/grill is very dirty looking. The floors in the kitchen and eating area don't look like they've seen a mop in a very long time. Food was good. Fries were warm, not hot. Lost my taste when I realized how dirty it is.Food: 4/5

Nasty cook wearing dirty uniform the chilli was the one the worst things I've eaten onion rings were saturated in oil completely inedible I wouldn't subject anyone or anyone's pets to this place. They should close their doors and call it a wrapService: 1/5
I drove through the Drive Thru. The food had a funny taste to it. The fries tasted like they were redropped into old oil.Food: 2/5
Had high hopes.. entered to a fairly empty restaurant with many dirty tables guessing we just missed a rush, no big deal. Stefanie told us Sara would be right with us.. hear them arguing in back about who is taking table. Seemed like Stefanie was only waitstaff actually working. Stefanie came back took our order. Order came out fairly quickly. Fries deliciously salty. Chili was cold on franks. Burgers were great. We are big eaters. I got chili cheese frank and double bacon burger. Hubs got chili and onion frank and patty melt with birthday cake shake perfect. Half way thru something breaks in kitchen.. the resulting yelling had everyone in place wide eyed. Sincerely appreciated Stefanie for being only working. Must be very frustrating.
My first and last trip here. Not too bad but not good either. I rememebered steak and shake as having good burgers. Maybe my memory is failing me. Or maybe Five Guys has ruined me for all others.Food: 3/5
I rather not go there to work and order/ pay through a Kiosk. Would try very hard to avoid Steak and shake Kiosk systems.
Considering they only had 2 employees working, I guess dirty tables is expected. But if you can't handle the customers inside, don't open the dining area.
