Doctors are 5 stars - front desk is NOT. ignorant about masks when they don't need to be. one in particular is REALLY IGNORANT about masks...makes me not want to go there. they even caused a ruckus in the waiting room with another patient...totally unnecessary..the rest of the world has moved on, but crazy still here
They were very patient and caring with my 9 year old. Great staff here.
Shanice was rude as hell. Called me back about setting up an appointment for new patients. She had the worse attitude, was proud to deny me, and acted as if I purposely no call no showed for my first appointment, meanwhile I had something unexpected come up. The worst customer service I’ve ever experience tbh
I have been going to Stony Brook for more than 10 years and have experienced outstanding professional and kind care. The physicians listen to my concerns and plan with me the best course of action or remedy. My primary physician is Dr. Michael Wilson and I can't say enough about how grateful I am for the service and care he has given me.
My wife has been dealing with a very painful condition for a while now. They had no problem rushing her in but when she got in the doctor treated her like she was lying. however her test results proved otherwise. They then prescribed her a very high dose of azithromycin1000 mg to be taken all at once when the average dose is 500 with smaller doses of 250. This nearly killed my wife. This office is a joke and from what I read on other reviews they should be investigated
I have only had amazing experiences. Here and have never been told I couldn't get an appointment. Dr. Warfel was great with my mother when he told her that her fight with cancer was nearing an end and was recomending hospice but that the choice was hers and he would support her decisions either way. He was caring and held her hand and said all the things she needed to hear.
I have been going to this office ever since I can remember. I have nothing bad to say about Dr. Gordon. She has always helped me out with all my needs. However, every other doctor I have seen in this office have done nothing. They tell me they don't know what to tell me, or that they can't help me out until my main doctor is back, which is 3 days from now, even though my condition seems to be worsening. Thanks for the help.
I had been gravely ill for 2 weeks. I thought it was the flu. Towards the last few days, I suspected I might be dying. But I didn't understand what I would be dying of? I was also raised in a home where you do not ask to go to the hospital unless you are hemorrhaging or have other obvious symptoms. So I wouldn't go to the hospital because I felt like I wouldn't be believed that I was this sick. I am sure my judgement was off as well. I called this office, trying to get an appt. My Dr. here was Dr. Becky Gordon. I explained to them how ill I was and begged for an appointment. I also had to field all the hold, wait times. Being hung up on accidentally. I called for a week straight trying to get an appointment. They just kept saying they were booked. They made no provisions for any emergencies. If someone had a routine physical with an appointment they made 6 months before, they could keep that and the person who is violently ill won't get in. I didn't feel like anyone would believe I was sick if I called 911. I was not bleeding. So I just layed there kitchen floor dying. My four dogs gathered around me and I just started drifting in and out of consciousness. I realized my dogs were going to starve to death if I didn't call 911 so that was what finally snapped me out it. 911 came and when I was taken to the hospital I found out that I had type 1 diabetes and I was dying of something called diabetic ketoacidosis. My blood sugar at the time of admission was near a 1000. Needless to say, I was very angry at this doctor's office for having no means of being able to take an emergency. If it weren't for my dogs, I would have just went into a coma and died. I was too weak to find a new doctor. And I was unsure if the way they acted here was any different than any other doctor's office. So I stayed here. But this doctor did not seem knowledgeable about diabetes. She prescribed me medicine for type 2 diabetics. I needed insulin. After another trip to the hospital, I was given insulin and then she understood I had type 1 diabetes. Everything that I learned about my condition, I had to learn myself. She didn't do much in the way of educating me. She also made no mention of how diabetics, if their blood sugar goes too low, can lose consciousness. So I would lose consciousness sometimes and not really understand why. Then one day, I was driving, with my four dogs and I felt like I was going to lose consciousness again. So I pulled over to the side of the road as not to maim and kill anyone and then I promptly lost consciousness. I emailed her the next day and I asked her what is going on? I wanted to know why this keeps happening. Next thing I know, she reported me to the department of motor vehicles and I lost my drivers license for a year and a half. And this taught me, do not rely on any doctor or anyone to tell you things you need to know about a health condition you have. They are too busy to care. Or they just dont know. So I had to be my own health advocate and learn about my condition. Noone told me about the dangers of driving with type 1 diabetes and the things you have to look out for. Noone told me. Including this doctor. She just blamed me losing my license on me not wanting to be responsible in my diabetes care when in fact IT WAS JUST IGNORANCE. Do not rely on anyone but yourself to survive because the reality is noone cares about you but you. So I learned about my condition to protect myself and others. And now this is not an issue and it never would have been an issue had anyone just warned me about Diabetes and driving. But noone did. I had to educate myself. And in my mind, she was just trying to act like I wouldn't be compliant in my diabetes care as a way to cover herself for not warning me about diabetes and driving. I believe she is selfish and cruel for doing that. I also had full blown graves disease with my eyes bulging out of my head. She never recognized that. I had to get that diagnosed at the e.r. I would not recommend her or this office. I am a LOT happier at the Roosevelt office, with Dr. Harberger.
This used to be a good dr's office, then Dr Bice left for whatever reason and the dr replacing him, Dr Lamp, has been nothing but trouble for everyone i know who was pushed into becoming a patient of hers. Currently, she refuses to refill scripts that are long term and medically necessary because the greed of this physician wants more office visits and more lab work to repetitively be done when an uninsured patient just needs blood pressure medication. I guess they would rather let patients die than refill a prescription. Stay away from this one if you can.
I am 62 and I have had very poor health for the last two years plus . I have difficulty sleeping more that 2-3 hrs a night for many years now. I have been treated by a physiatrist for insomnia among other things like Bipolar Disorder, sever anxiety and panic attacks. I take Trazodone in high doses which makes me unsafe if I try to get up at night to use the bathroom. Being really uncomfortable with that scenario I suggested that I may have sleep apnea. Dr Lamp sent me to have a sleep study done in January this year and I awaited the results. I never heard anything even though I have seen Dr Lamp several times since. I had occasion to need to see a physician quickly and Dr Lamp was unable to see me. I had a bad case of bronchitis and saw Dr McCabe . In the course of the visit the fact that I suffered with Sleep Apnea came up which I was surprised to discover since I had not been notified previously by Dr Lamp my PCP. Dr McCabe sent me to have a second sleep study which confirmed the diagnosis. I think that this is just unacceptable as Sleep Apnea is a devastating illness and deprives one from getting proper rest to heal the body . With all of my other health issues this is troubling to me. I feel it is at least bordering on Malpractice.
