Stony Brook State Park:

Thousands of years ago most of New York State was trapped under a thick sheet of ice. As the climate warmed, the ice retreated, leaving behind rushing water that carved out deep lakes and steep gorges. One such gorge is now part of Stony Brook State Park. With its breathtaking rock formations and spectacular waterfalls, a walk down the gorge trail is just one opportunity to enjoy all Stony Brook has to offer.
In addition to the famous gorge trail, visitors to the park may also choose to hike the east and west rim trails. The rim trails provide a shaded walk through towering oak and hemlock forest, with occasional glimpses into the gorge below. All three trails are open dawn to dusk, and seasonally as weather and trail conditions permit.
Located in the parks picnic area you will find plenty of tables and charcoal grills for your use. Bring your glove and ball to toss around the baseball diamond or your racket to swing on the tennis court. Don’t forget a basketball if you feel like shooting hoops. The kids are sure to have a great time enjoying all the fun of the parks playground. There are also comfort stations and a concession stand, both open seasonally. If you’re planning an event, there are two shelters available to reserve for reunions, parties, and weddings.
If one day at Stony Brook just isn’t enough the campground offers 125 tent and trailer sites and eight cabins. (No water or electric hook-ups) Each site contains a picnic table, a fire ring, and is located near a comfort station with flush toilets and hot showers. The campground contains sandboxes and a swing set for the kids and a sand volleyball court. The camping entrance is located south of the main park entrance.

We are pleased to announce that the Honeoye Lake State boat launch has been newly renovated. The launch now offers a widely expanded parking lot and twin floating docks to help make launching and parking much easier. Canoe and kayak enthusiasts will be thrilled to learn that we have added a special launching dock specifically for them. For those who want to avoid the hassle of transporting their canoe or kayak we will be installing a storage rack with spaces available to rent daily, weekly, or seasonally. The boat launch also offers public access during the winter for ice fishermen. Anglers of any season will enjoy the lakes ample population of walleye, bass, and pickerel. The Honeoye Lake State boat launch is located in the town of Richmond on the southeast corner of Honeoye Lake, just off East Lake Road.
Harriet Hollister Spencer Memorial Recreation Area (HHS):

HHS is a park for all seasons. Covering a vast tract of wilderness high atop Canadice Hill and overlooking Honeoye Lake, HHS is truly a hidden jewel. A maze of trails that include all skill levels winds through the park. Summertime visitors will enjoy shady walks or bike rides through diverse forest habitat. Fall brings the spectacular colors that the Finger Lakes region is known for. It also offers a chance for hunters to pursue white tailed deer across the parks many streams, valleys, and ridges. Winter brings HHS most of its visitors. Cross country skiing, snowshoeing, and snow mobileing are just a few of the winter sports you may choose to enjoy at HHS. In fact you may even see someone on a sled being pulled by a team of dogs. The reputation of the park and trails is so great that it even plays host to the NYS high school snowshoeing championship. As a bonus, because of its high elevation, HHS will receive snow on days when most surrounding areas will not.
