During the saddest of times, our family was treated with care and respect. We were even given extra help trying to get information about flowers, scheduling the National cemetery, and coordinating a large family visitation. Kelvin Cooper was most helpful and we are all grateful for his kindness.
The worst experience! My son made the initial arrangements, but needed me to get on the phone to confirm payment. The man, I think his name was Dave, proceeded to tell me what a great deal he was giving us out of respect for my husband’s service he served 22 years. When I came to pay for and finalize the arrangements I was told that I couldn’t make arrangements without my son’s approval and was again reminded of what a great deal he gave us and was very defensive and rude. I mentioned that my husband was adamantly opposed to being embalmed, but was told that it had already been done. When I questioned the fee for the “graveside services” since he was being buried in the National Cemetery he said that the military didn’t provide that and told me again that he had given us a deal worth over $10,000. As my daughter and I were leaving the ladies who worked there told us that we could take a Christmas decoration from the tree to remember my husband. This was the only kindness I was shown. During the service I was never acknowledged, everything was directed to my son. Finally, at the very end, Dave briefly shook my hand but that hardly made up for having everything, including that presentation of the flag directed to someone else. My pain was ignored. My sorrow discounted. My 27 years of marriage again ignored. An already difficult time was made so much worse. Oh, my son arranged for the speaker, so I guess the “graveside services” were a printed paper of the funeral proceedings.
I am so grateful for the kind and professional assistance of Mr. Sandy Dowling and the entire staff. During a difficult time, Mr. Dowling was always available, warm, accommodating, and an invaluable guide in navigating through so many details. Thank you Stoudenmire-Dowling Funeral Home for everything you do.
While they have a spacious area for viewing and funeral services, as a mixed woman appearing black in a white family I felt like I was dismissed by the staff. I was told to move around and not to park under the carport and my sister was directed away from the family room at the funeral. All of this took place at my grandfather’s funeral and it was honestly heartbreaking and frustrating. I would not recommend this funeral home if you have any people of color in the immediate family.
My family has used this facility for many years with excellent care and guidance, but the heartlessness and rudeness that my cousin's received while trying to bury their daddy was horrible. A storm was coming up, which we had no control over, so Mr. Pete told my cousin's in a very rude manner, to hurry up and do whatever they were going to do and get on out of there cause they had work to do! The funeral home also messed up a special thing that had been planned for the final goodbye. There was a mess up with the flowers also! Will not be using this funeral home for anymore of my family as long as there are people like Mr. Pete directing.
We could not be more pleased with the services provided to our family during this difficult time as we honored my father’s life.
Ive had several occasions to deal with them and have been impressed by their professionalism . They've been around a long time.
The best place in Florence to have your visitation and funeral held/handled for your lost loved one..
Excellent personalized service. Very professional. I highly recommend them to make one of the most difficult times a little easier.
