Starting a food truck was an idea that had been brewing for awhile. However, it was just an idea until Will came across an announcement from the Burlington Fire Department about an auction to retire their old air supply fire truck. On the last day of the auction, Will wrote up a bid, sealed it and thought very little about it until the call came in from the Chief on Labor Day announcing the highest bidder.
The truck was purchased from the Burlington Fire Department in 2015 through a closed bid auction. Before becoming Streetgreens, the truck served for many years as the mobile air supply unit hauling air tanks to fire calls around Chittenden County. The truck originally came from Plattsburgh, but was purchased in the 90's and moved to the Burlington Fire Department. This "82 Chevrolet P20 StepVan has 57,000 original miles and has been meticulously maintained over the years before being transformed into the Streetgreens food truck.
Streetgreens is a local mobile food unit serving fresh and healthy salads and wraps to the greater Chittenden County area. Streetgreens fills a void in the growing food truck market. Our mission is to provide delicious and healthy food, prepared from scratch. We source local ingredients whenever possible and even grow many of our menu items right from the Streetgreen's garden.
