Went today to the dog run and it was in disarray. No water , tall grass. Still a gorgeous park, the children play area was gorgeous, only the dog pens both large and small were lacking. They should allow parking as there is not many people anyway. Springfield needs REAL off leash not play pens. My dogs are used to roaming on hike trails and beaches.
Small play area with big fields for frisbie. Hooks into bike trail for easy access. Dog park is further down the park road for those with dogs.

Dogs had tons of fun. Pretty empty, but we weren't sure how my younger dog would do so we wanted a more... Dead time of day. She met a few dogs and destroyed her tennis ball. Ran and ran and laid in the pond thing.
Excellent! There's an agility course complete with ramp, tunnel, and balancing log and lots of room to run! Nicely fenced in with a separate area for smaller dog friends. Large pavilion with picnic tables for shade, and kiddie pools for splash happy doggos.

Love this park because it's the only dog park in Springfield IL, kinda sad. Buddy Boi liked it when I brought him out here too.
My dog had SO much fun here. Plenty of room to run around and make friends.
The park itself is nice. People bring aggressive dogs though and do not control them. My dog was attacked and then we witnessed another dog be attacked by the very same dog. People also allow groups of dogs who "know each other" to gang up on newcomers and exhibit uncontrolled territorial and pack behavior. People also let their dogs off leash outside of the dog area, making it unsafe to leave.
