Wonderful, laid back park. We got one of the sites that had a short trail to the water, which was perfect because we did a lot of kayaking. The boat launch in the campground was nice too, though, instead of having to drive elsewhere to launch. Loved that the big lake is trolling speed only. Nice for us folks with young kids who like calm water. The kids loved the beach. Still amazed by how clear the water was! We had fun looking through the rocks. We do wish the beach wasn't quite so rocky. The fishing was pretty good. We didn't catch as many as we had hoped, but we got plenty of bites to keep things interesting. The kids thought it was super cool that we paddled out to one of the islands to fish. My biggest complaint is the "potable" water. What is up with it being orange and smelling like bleach? It was the same for the bathrooms and the water at the campsites. Ew.
This a great place to camp, fish, kayak and just enjoy nature in a relaxed environment. Trails along lake are a nice walking experience. This is not the place for challenging hiking experiences like Turkey Run might have. Playground: Nice playground area for the kids and grandkids. Restrooms: Restrooms and ahowers were very clean, but there are no benches or seats in them except in wheelchair accessible stall, and some hooks are gone, making it difficult to keep your clothes and other items dry when showering. Dog-friendliness: Took my friend's dog everywhere with us. Picnic area: Plenty of wonderful places to picnic. And in the evening you can catch the spectacular sunsets from a lot of those areas.
Great place to take the kids! The beach was a little overcrowded but it's summer I get it not everyone can afford a pool or to go to one and you can pile everyone in your vehicle and go swimming for $7 cheap. And with cheap comes all kids of characters. Other than that loved the trails and the new signs up for education. Playground: Loved the rubber ground at the playground Restrooms: Big restrooms Dog-friendliness: It's a park. I saw one dog. Picnic area: Couple little spots back by the trails that you can have a picnic, we did.
great for a nice cheap day out with the family. 7 bucks for as many people as you can fit in your car. only complaint is the millions of geese that will patrol the beach and chase you around after 6-7pm. love going to the sunset shelter every time we're there in the evening. beautiful sights Restrooms: water stays warm with high pressure in the showers Picnic area: you can stay nice and cool under the shade of the trees, plus you get a good view of the sunset
So cheap, impressive for an electric campground, with hiking and other activities. This place is dog-friendly and cat-friendly, too!
Beautiful family friendly quality fun. The sunset was breathtaking over the water. There’s so many things that you can do to make memories. We will definitely be back!!
Trails are quiet and easy to navigate. Birds watching you all time. No wonder annual pass uses them as profile picture.
Beautiful but small little state park. Great trails, amazing lake with boat and canoe/kayak rental, and of course camping
Small, average, charming, less popular state park of IN. Went in mid Dec on a Sunday which was not busy at all. Over 100 camping spots away from the main area of the state park. 3 boat launches, public beach, boat rentals+ Very short trails with views of Summit lake and prairie, they are not hard and either gravel or grass, but well marked. You could cover the whole state park on foot in a matter of a few hours. I could see how the area would be very popular in the summer with the opportunities for water sports and the camping. Overall I would not visit again but it was worth the stop by. The area appears well managed but I was disappointed by how much litter was laying around.
It was beautiful and quiet. Very well kept up, very clean and monitored by DNR! Such a beautiful place to go!!
