We were pleasantly surprised that all of the sites had concrete patios and fire rings. I had reserved a basic site in the backwoods section that was from what I understand basic gravel full hookup site with a picnic table. Our particular section only had two other campers in it, which made it even better, definitely needed some quiet time and solitude on this trip. The restrooms/showers in our section were new and fully private and the attached laundry room was very nice as well. This is a great campground for families, there is enough to do without leaving the campground to keep everyone entertained that you could stay for a whole week. We and our dogs really enjoyed the hiking trails through the woods and feeding the miniature horses and donkeys veggies each day. We haven’t camped anywhere other than destinations on vacations in several years. It was very nice just to spend a few days connecting with nature and good old fashioned camping again.
What a huge slide in quality, experience and amenities in one year. My family had been going to this campground for over a decade, watched it grow and always considered it my favorite based on the personal charm the owners provided it for families. They sold and this is the first year. Sadly- it is not the same. The quality and safety are largest concern. The play set was missing strips that are needed for kids to climb the play set, cracks in the slides. The pond is over-run by Canadian geese who have eggs everyone and the droppings. The animal corral is not being kept up. Kids activities were included and now they are mostly for a cost and lack activity direction and coordination. Boat rentals were included but now a cost. We loved pizza on Friday night, that is now gone. Less options, more cost. I fear next year; the star would be a 1, as there is no attempt appearing to being made to keep up with the original standard that so many enjoyed and came to expect. If you haven’t been here before, this is probably acceptable, but for a location that only 1 year ago always exceeded my expectations- it is not to us. The charm is gone.
Always a great time. Very friendly and accommodating staff. We had our granddaughter with us and her bike tire was flat. I walked to the office and asked if they had any way to put air in the tire. They radioed to someone who asked which campsite we were in and said they were on their way. He brought a portable air tank and filled her tires for her, right at our campsite. They go above and beyond for their patrons. They had great activities, which included a caricature artist, face painting, balloon animals, foam pit,Bingo, bracelet making craft and glow slip and slide. Everyone running the activities was very personable and friendly. The only issue we had was no toilet paper in the bathroom. Even after I reported to the office that it was out of toilet paper around 7 pm I went to the same bathroom at around 6:00 a.m. and there still was no toilet paper. The same stalls that were without toilet paper the night before, we're still without it the next morning. We brought a roll and stocked it ourselves But all in all, it was and is always, a great time there.
The campground was pretty nice, it's the beginning of fall so we didn't use the swimming pond. The kids did the paddle boats and they have a nice playground. We had an issue at check in as we had reserved and paid in full for 3 rv lots together but at check in 1 was not in the row. They said because we failed to pay the extra $25 site lock in fee which they didn't mention when we made our reservations that the paid in full reservations were just for whatever is available, it's just assuring that you have a spot. I think it's ridiculous. Camping experience and facilities were pretty good though.
This is our first time here and we like it. It's the biggest KOA that we have visited so far. There are golf carts to rent for a day. Swimming pond. Play grounds. Laundry facilities and bathrooms, And so much more. Tonight we listened to a bluegrass band called Slate Ridge that proved to be very talented. There is definitely a lot to do around here for families. As for just couples, it is nice as well. You can walk the paths. Rent a golf cart and explore. Oakdale Nursery is 20 minutes away and is beautiful! Overall, a nice place to just forget about responsibilities and relax!
Beautiful campground with tons of things to do for the whole family! RV sites are a good size with cement patios. General store has lots of items along with hand scooped ice cream. Firewood and ice delivery too! Staff and management are very helpful and friendly!
We have been coming to this KOA for awhile now and have loved every stay. We called it our own little Fort Wilderness. Unfortunately, this KOA has new ownership and it has gone from a 5 Star to a 1 Star in less than a year. The place used to be clean and tidy. Lots of things to do and great sites that were well manicured. The pool was so clean and well maintained. Now the pool is really dirty and algae growing and lots of bugs and debris in pool. The heater is broken and pool temps were too cold. The common areas were overgrown with weeds. The large jump pad had a hole in it and was unable to be used safely. I hope the new ownership reads these reviews and can turn this KOA around by next season.
Came in for a 1 night stay but found somthing broken and had to get it repaired before continuing. They were able to let me stay longer and were willing to ask an incoming camper who had requested the site I was in if they could take a different site so I wouldn't have to move a broken trailer. Then they let me have the emergency repairs made at my site. If ever in this area again we will definitely stay here again.
With being a KOA worker at an equally as busy KOA we were a bit disappointed with this place. The hours posted on the check in service guide are wrong for everything and your not told at check in. This resulted in our trash being left outside over night multiple times. Big jump pad has a big hole in it, boats at pond are dirty and have trash in them, restrooms by the check in and store are dirty and werent cleaned over the few days we checked and trash left around the playground all week. No Cafe for food and no heaters for the activities through the day at the lodge terrace, cold inside and out. They didnt have a night security guard which allowed kids to scream and yell at the playground while playing basketball from 11pm until 12:30AM when I had to call the night contact # so they would talk to them. Some of the drives and roads need to have the trees trimmed so they don't rub on the RVs. I had to trim the tree in our spot and the trees on the exit road need a good trimming. They had 3 washers/dryers down and the dryers werent working properly, had to add more money to het them dryed. The positives, boats were free to use, 2 playgrounds for the kids, barn yard animals to feed. Grounds were nice but need some work, the store had alot of stuff and they did have alot of fun activities, the bingo was alot of fun but cold....too bad they didn't have any activities for fridays. The laundry room was clean. Even though they didn't have any food available it was cool that they had a waffle truck show up and you could get some food.
Really beautiful campground. Tons of amenities! Lots of new sites. I was able to get a 105ft site! You don't see that very often. They also have golf carts for rental which is a super bonus!
