I have gone to this office longer than I would have liked because Dr. Volk was a fantastic doctor. However, Dr. Volk no longer practices here. So I will no longer be going to this office, and I am incredibly relieved. They had several times booked me at the same time as another patient with no explanation or apology. They overcharged me for services that took months to get resolved. I was treated rudely by the office staff on nearly every visit. I rarely leave reviews, but something has happened at this office that makes it feel like a very uncomfortable unwelcoming place, and it wasn't always this way. All of the doctors I have met have been fine. But my experience with every other aspect of this office has just worsened with each visit. It was a very stressful place, and I felt I needed to share my experience. Hopefully, they will get better.
After my doctor retired trying to find a new doctor there got nothing but lies one lady said she was a manager yet she was it I was looking for a new doctor they told me this nurse practitioner was a doctor but she wasn’t so all they do is lie to you for yourself a favor stay away
Don’t even waste your time. At first I got appts with The nurse practitioner; Whitney Breen. She seemed to be proactive my first appointment. Then i realized VERY quickly that this office was a joke. A literal joke to just bill you and take your money then dust their hands of actual practice. I showed up to the appts she had ordered for further testing. Didn’t get results, I had to get the dvd from where I got my further tests and offer them over the phone since I didn’t hear from them for 2 weeks after calling 3 separate times. When I called they were.. in the kindest worst lacking professionalism. It’s the type of attitude you would expect from McDonald’s. I get better customer service at MCDONALDS. So I of course, frustrated eventually asked to speak to their office manager. Who was friendly and I think he had good intentions so no problem with him. Got another referral for even further testing— NEVER GOT MY RESULTS STILL. It’s been over a MONTH. No phone call, no message on the portal. Not one thing. Scheduled another appt as I needed blood testing done like she requested and a wellness check as i was sick, they said the portal didn’t schedule it and there was an error. I asked when else she would be available? It was too far out. I said whatever, went to another drs office. The portal did schedule my appt and I got marked as missed. Did it again the next week to get my blood tests done, SAME THING. But this time I had to cancel and called to make them aware. MARKED AS MISSED. Then i get a letter in the mail “drs office can dismiss you for missed appts” etc. I’m like I haven’t even made 4 appts so this is an error on their end. I don’t have the patience. I’m gonna let it go. 1-2 weeks later, I try to schedule online I know should probably know better but their office staff is unbearably rude and love to hang up or send you to a voicemail then never get back to you I try to avoid them at all costs. I receive a call, SHOCKER. “ you’ve been dismissed due to missed appts” how funny considering I haven’t even schedules 4 appts to miss to be dismissed but okay. I explain the situation she was rude of course but she gives me the fake “I’ll talk to them and give a call back.” Get a call back, rings 3 times.. hangs up. Cool. Didn’t expect anything less. I call back— told hmm idk let me check— next thing I know I’m on a voicemail and it hangs up. Still no results from the testing I was sent to do. Still no blood tests done after finishing medication I was told to finish and come back for more tests after 30 days so who knows where they are and if I’m at a safe level. Still can’t get ahold of anybody who cares to do their job other than one office manager. So when I say, this office is a joke and rip-off, I mean it’s an absolute joke and rip off. After your first appt where you think everything is gravy— be prepared to be taken advantage of and blown off. Their negative reviews are not lies.
This practice is a joke. The front desk employees are incredibly abrupt and rude. And they usually can't help you much bc they have to go the KU Med to answer any questions financially bc they're is nobody on staff there for billing. My friend got lost trying to find the office which is confusing and thus was 15 minutes late after she was finally checked in and they made her reschedule. This happened to me as well which is infuriating because I was trying to get insurance approved and by the time we had answers they made me reschedule as well. Ridiculous. I did not reschedule. It's really too bad cuz Dr Killen and his nurse Shawna are wonderful, but the system is heavily flawed.
Amazing doctors and an amazing facility! I had an issue with their answering service and the office reached out to apologize for the situation, which I greatly appreciated. They have extremely high standards and go above and beyond to ensure patients are taken care of.
I followed their online check in system instructions and received a confirmation that I was checked in, but then after 15 minutes I called the front desk and they said they texted me and called for me to come in - but I didn’t receive any missed calls or texts. And they cancelled my appointment when I was waiting in the parking lot and made no attempt to work me in.
I recently moved to Kansas City and scheduled an appointment for medication refills that I had been on for an extended period of time. At my first appointment, I did not receive the refills I requested and paid out of pocket. The provider wanted to try me on a new medication, even after I broke down in the exam room out of pure frustration of not getting my medications. However, I did as the provider requested and tried this new medication. I was told that if the medication does not work, at my follow up appointment the provider would prescribe the medication I have been on for years. A month later at the follow up appointment, I still was not given the medications even after I expressed the inefficiency of the new medication. I left the clinic this day AGAIN without my medications, the reason for the initial visit. The provider referred me to a specialist, which I contacted myself and scheduled an appointment for 6 weeks later I found a different psychiatrist and was able to get in 2 weeks later. I am shocked by the clinical decisions made by this provider, and how I was blatantly ignored as a patient. Although I was frustrated with this experience, I was going to drop it until I received an additional bill yesterday. I even spoke with the office manager to get this situation resolved, but with no luck. He even started asking me personal questions about my medications, which is probably a HIPPA violation. Anyways, after this experience I genuinely would not recommend this clinic to anyone.
Dr. Volk is an amazing doctor. I can’t say enough about her.
Scheduling is a breeze and the online patient portal is easy to navigate. They really take the time to listen to you and answer any questions you have. The doctors and staff are amazing!
