We like the staff but the facilities has some issues. Residents allow dogs to continually deficate in the grass, side walks, no matter how many times you report it. We have had a rusted water heater on the side walk not going anywhere after being reported 2 weeks ago. A disable car not moving after 5 months, half of which had expired tags. A downed tree limb on the ground for a week. Average community not anything more.
If I could give a negative -100 review I would. I beg you not to take your loved one to this facility. My husband was recently admitted and after what I witnessed, photographed and recorded, I had him removed after 48 hrs. On time of check in, found pills on the floor, fall risk band was removed. Full pieces of feces on the floor next to his bed which was still there 2 days later. Call button out of reach, Water at times, out of reach. No clothing change during the time he was there. Last day found feces smeared down his pants and no one changed him. I resorted to marking his Depends with a sharpie to see how frequently they were changing him. I documented 24hrs without a diaper change. I requested multiple times to speak to someone in authority. My requests were ignored each time. While my back was turned, found his roommate had come around the curtain and picked up his utensils and was eating his food. Said something to the aid handing out meals in front of the door and asked if the gentleman had been fed yet. She replied no. After I told her about him eating off my husbands plate, she dismissed me and continued handing out meals to other residents. I stayed late, after all meals where picked up and lights turned down. At no time, did they bring my husbands roommate a meal. In a timeframe of 45 minutes, I managed to kill 5 large cockroaches. My heart goes out to these patients. Who speaks for those being mistreated that can't speak for themselves. I will! I have reported them to the State and other agencies, provided to my by friends in the medical field. PLEASE....do not place your loved ones in this facility.
My father has been here for 1 month he has for the most part received great care. We had one small situation which was immediately addressed by the staff. I was also contacted by phone to make sure everything was going well. Some superstars working here are all the PT and OT staff as well as Bernadette and Alex thank you for your service and time
The staff is a pleasure to work with, responsive, and collaborative. The new decor in the lobby, and the meeting room looks outstanding. The hallways have been repainted, and everything is looking beautiful.
Horrible place. Room had palmetto bugs in it. My loved one can in with a hematoma that got worse. Advised the owner and staff they dud nothing. I pulled her from the facility and 1 week later she is still in the hospital because of how bad it has gotten and not treated. Horrible Horrible place
Sunset Lake has an amazing staff. They treat the residents as if they are caring for their own family members. The rehab department is one of the best in Sarasota County for rehabilitation therapy. The therapists are truly experts in the field. Sunset Lake offers first class services from beginning to end. I would recommend Sunset Lake above all others.
This is a great place to go for rehab everyone is happy smiling face. I have work here 5 month and if I have to recommend a place to go I would say Sunset Lakes is the best place to go best therapy , best management. Staff treats every resident like family. Their is a lot of activity going one for the residents and every staff member is very helpful
I'm 83 years old. My room had palmetto bugs. You ring the bell and they never come. I was hanging off the bed. Nasty dirty place
My mother lived at Sunset Lake for 2 years. A lot of things about having a family member in a nursing home can be frustrating, but they really took excellent care of her. She went in with a bed sore that the previous facility said was untreatable, but Sunset Lake healed it within a few months. She also went in completely unable to walk and needed a mechanical lift to be moved from location to location, but now she is able to walk short distances with a walker and can get from her bed to a wheelchair and even from a wheelchair into the car with relative ease. I'm totally impressed and grateful for Sunset Lake's physical therapy team. Also, appearances help a lot, and anytime I visited the facility, it was very clean and cheerful and looked inviting. It was a very nice place for my mother to be while she could not be with family. The staff there all seemed to treat her well, and if any of them read this: THANK YOU! The one major downside to Sunset Lake is that it is hard to get ahold of anyone there if you need to speak to to a particular staff. Apparently the new company that owns them has really cut a lot of corners and now they don't even have voicemail. That's pretty nuts. Overall, though, speaking as someone who has experience with several nursing homes now, Sunset Lake is is at the top of my list.
Best staff and care. Kathy the nurse and Kathy the med records person really shine good choice ------ glad I came here.
