Quaint but packed full of retro surprises. Coming back next week for a big purchase... or 12!!! I love the incorporation of family oriented board games. Especially my love, trivial pursuit.
Although it's address does take you a little off the beaten path, this shop is in a artsy area surrounded by all kinds of interesting establishments. The place was clean, all items were displayed in such a fashion to allow for ease of inspection before purchase and the proprietors were very personable. I read the prior reviews and I would have to disagree with the statements regarding an "odor", I was in there for quite awhile taking my time to look at things and research. I would recommend shopping in if you are looking for retro gaming goodies!
Pros: Decent selection of games. Small cozy spot at railroad square. Everything from NES to PS3 and a little in between. They have other oddities and merch available. Some prices are reasonable. Worth stopping by once in a while. Cons: Games can be selective and limited to repeats and common games. They have a counter that offers limited or more rare games, prices are a bit high for those. I'm a little disappointed in them offering a Secret of Mana 2 game, it's not even official and it's a sham to sell a donor cart for $40 it's a unofficial English translation. Those types of carts go for no more than $10 on eBay/Etsy. Some of those type of games don't work or even have bad bugs or translations. Staff could be more helpful with questions, I asked about the Mapper 30 carts from the growing Homebrew community and he didn't offer much Intel that I already found online. Games4Less opened a Hyperkin Retro HD just to test it for me with or without buying it. Lastly, consider airing out the place or freshing up the oder. It has a Gym OB smell about the place.
Super Secret Bonus Level has a wide variety of retro games, new games, and other nerdy treasures. The staff is very knowledgeable and friendly. I had been searching for a Gameboy Advance SP for sometime and was able to locate one here.
Very dissapointed. I purchased a funko pop from this store recently, but when I took it out of the box, I found two large imperfections that had been hidden on the back and on the shoe of the figure. When I tried to return the pop, they did not allow the return, and this upset me because I had just wasted my money on a poorly painted Funko Pop, and there was not a price markdown, or anything to indicate this. I will not be supporting this store anymore.
Brilliant place to go. Was welcomed, had s great discussion while looking at a great selection of retro games and other gaming memorobillia. Certainly a place to look if you want something that's vanished from the chain stores, or something a little bit niche!
The overall experience was poor and unwelcoming. As a gamer / retro gamer the limited selection was understandable but the store smelled a bit too much and when questions were asked that he didn't know the answer he got defensive.
They have a bunch of cheap Xbox and Xbox 360 games. It's pretty cool and the only thing GameStop does better is having a larger selection of 360 games.
They have a nice selection of collectibles as well as vintage & current video games.
So glad we came to this store! Found great games for the kids and for the adults!!
