I love this store. There's literally everything you could need, and things you never knew you did need. This store is well stocked and well laid out and there was staff around to help when I had questions. They also have an onsite cooking school which, if I lived near here, would love to go to. The school is like a whole, big, regular kitchen and I imagine classes would be fun. The store itself is great to look around whether you're truly shopping or just browsing. They carry so many gorgeous items, so be prepared to perhaps part with some money.
My experience was OK. Instructor is amazing and seemed knowledgeable. The pricing is kind of ridiculous though for barely anything. I paid $175 for the bold Tuscan flavors and I literally got 2 slices of steak and my man got 3 slices. I dislike that we share in a group of 4. We should have all gotten a steak each or minimum each pair should have shared a steak. But the fact that we paid damn near $200 and we did NOT even get full is ridiculous.
So last night we got to go to sushi school what a blast 10% off any purchases on the night of our class also 10% off of future class reservations . Our teacher and her crew did a fabulous job she a good communicator and the women who helped her were fabulous .
This review is for the cooking class only. Specifically the baking class. I bought four tickets at $69 each. The class itself was fun and the chef had a great personality. Chef Jessica. She’s a no nonsense, mind your manners in the kitchen type of gal, but she still knows how to make you laugh and run a smooth class. We made two types of cookies and fudge. All three recipes I would use again, my disappointment came with the end product. One set of our cookies was not watched properly by the staff and about five of them were burnt. For $69, I want to go home with properly baked goods. They don’t let you bake them personally, or watch the timer, so you trust that they are doing just that. I also don’t feel that there are enough tasks to entertain four people per group. Especially children.
Purchased an item online and went to return the item in the store. Lady at the register wouldn’t take it because the purchase date was past 30 days but the date I received it was within 30. Their policy goes off the purchase date, which is absurd. I called customer service soon after and they emailed me a prepaid return level. What a joke.
Purchased about $100 worth of utensils as a Christmas present for our son. He is an experienced cook and as a result, didn’t need any of them for his kitchen. We had a gift receipt, but they wouldn’t return the items for cash and insisted that we bring the original credit card in order to credit the account. What good is a gift receipt if you won’t honor it. Also, I wanted to order a Dutch oven and have it delivered to the store so my wife didn’t see it before her birthday. Nope, they couldn’t do that. Considering their prices, their customer service is severely lacking. I’m not sure why anyone buys items here.
This company is horrible. I purchased a $112.00 dollar oxo mandoline slicer from them. When I unboxed it to use it the blade was so dull it wouldn't cut my finger. They are refusing to take it back or refund me because it was opened. How would I know it didn't work with out opening it ?
The most amazing place ever!!!!! Chef Jennifer King, is simply the best! She is so good with children! My girls took a cooking with Barbie class here! It was the sweetest class ever! We will be back for sure!!!!!!!
Usually I shop at the Avocado, NB location. I’ve always been well looked after there. Today, however, I went to the South Coast Plaza location because what I had ordered online was only available there. I needed to buy a new wok pan. The sales person showed me on the shelves what I could expect to find in the box I brought home. Turns out that she sold me a much larger flat pan than that. She also neglected to give me the advertised 20% off. Frustrating because now I must go back to the store to exchange it for the correct one. When I called the store and spoke with her, she did not say that she was sorry for the inconvenience to me for her error, only saying that I had 30 days to bring it back. My trust was misplaced here. A little more attention and care would be nice
