I've eaten here a many of times and as much as I want to give a higher rates review, I can't. The food here is absolutely amazing and everything I have tried has been very fresh and so so good. While I wish it was a little cheaper sometimes you gotta pay for quality. The service is always okay at best, I've eaten here multiple times when it wasn't busy and my drink never stayed full. While I can live with everything above and am not picky or hard to work with there's one issue I can't get over. As you all will know the restaurant is located in downtown Greenville and I live about 1 hour away in Spartanburg. Today I did a to go order I ordered 4 rolls and told the person on the phone I have an allergy to avocado and explained this to the man on the phone, he said okay and confirmed he heard me correctly. I got my food and drove home and to my surprise when I got home everything I ordered had avocado. I've had this happen before while dining in and I don't mind it, but now I was an hour away from the restaurant. I tried to call over 8 times over the last 3 hours and never got an answer. I didn't get to eat my food and we had to throw away what she couldn't finish as she's not allergic.
Spare yourself the worst sushi you'll ever have. I may not be an "elite" Yelper who are you people? but I've eaten a lot of sushi in a lot of different places and Murasaki was the only time we couldn't finish the plate. It was the worst sushi I've ever had, and I'm not sure I've said that about anything before. Maybe we ordered the wrong rolls, maybe the sushi chef was having an off night, or maybe this place just sucks. Save your money, do your stomach a favor and go anywhere else for dinner. The rolls had about an inch of rice and little meat inside. They also call a roll a Philadelphia roll, though instead of smoked salmon it has crab. How do you get away with redefining roll names? Read the menu closely folks! Nothing is normal at Murasaki. Even the ambience is partial sports bar, partial local watering hole, part bad sushi restaurant. Few redeeming qualities here. After complaining to the manager, he offered 50% off our bill but didn't order to make the food right or anything else. We left hungry. Don't repeat our mistake. Avoid!
I like Murasaki’s nigiris. Fresh sushi and convenient location. I’ve always dined in, but ordered several rolls to go for the first time. Takeout was okay, but the food served dining in is better.
Great atmosphere and service. The Malaysian seafood ramen was so delicious! Broth was rich and creamy! My gf and I couldn't get enough of it. The sashimi and sushi was fresh and the calamari also tasty. Overall, it was an awesome experience and I would come back again when I visit Greenville.
Holy. Cow. What good sushi. I am shocked. Our server Tim gets a gold star. At first he seemed a little aloof, but this guy gave us the best suggestions possible. He suggest the Toro sashimi, and holy cow that was the best piece of sushi I’ve ever had. I asked for a suggestion, and he gave me one well just ordered it without saying anything, it was reasonably priced and it was amazing. The only thing I’d have to say as a negative is the salmon wasn’t the most flavorful this day. But overall it was awesome. The drinks were well made and priced very well $13 a drink. I will go back for sure. My wife and I talked about how awesome this was all the way back to the car.
Sushi Murasaki is a great sushi place to enjoy fresh fish sashimi and more complex rolls. We personally love getting the chef special with lots of different raw fish. You can taste how incredibly fresh all of it is. We have been here for their lunch specials and late night for dinner. This place is always consistent and has a great atmosphere. Definitely recommend!
I’ve never had a bad experience coming here. The sushi is always amazing and the atmosphere is great. It’s one of my favorite sushi spots in Greenville.
Friendly service. Decent sushi at best. Also, Chef is a bit too fussy for no good reason. I ordered the sushi combo which comes with one roll. The type of roll is not listed on the menu. I requested a salmon roll. When my order arrived at the table the waiter said the Chef refused to do a salmon roll and he gave me a tuna roll instead. If you’re going to do that tell me before you send the food to my table so I have an opportunity to order something else. So I had to order a salmon roll separately. Chef, calm down you’re in Greenville not Tokyo. Give your customers what they want. It would have been no effort to just do a salmon roll originally. It wasn’t any trouble for him to do it when I paid for it separately. Annoying and the food’s not good enough to be worth the fuss.
Good restaurant, large space , loved their lunch specials. Food was delicious and service was fast . Prices are fairly reasonableDine in: Yes
Pretty good place to for sushi. I'd place it maybe 4th or 5th in Greenville. Lister roll was good, but pretty pricey at $21 for 5 pieces. The yellow tail in the yellow tail roll and the diced tuna on the genji roll was great, which is ultimately was made this overall experience good. I was a little disappointed with the dragon roll. The ocean breeze would've been better had they sliced the lemon more thinly. As it was, I ended up picking them off, which kinda defeats the purpose.
