This is primarily a seasonal Campground set on the Susquehanna river, which is not only beautiful but well-managed, well-maintained and most importantly exceedingly safe. The owners managed to gather like-minded campers who help to create a family environment which most would be happy to call their camping home.
A very nice, small campground. Well maintained and clean. Thoroughly enjoyed the owner. The upper level seem to be more of the semi-permanent campers. The lower, river level, more like us. Short timers. Nearby is a laundry and down the street a nice, fun little bar with some pretty good food. The only concern I might suggest is that if you have a long travel trailer, there might be some issue trying to pull your rig off the lower level without dragging bottom. 5th wheels, not a problem. RV’s, it would depend upon your wheelbase and how it compares to the length of the body. Large, grassy parking areas. Yes, you can have your traditional bugs, but hey, you’re on the river. That’s part of the experience.
Great place to stay. Not your typical rv park but one that offers a family feel you wont get at the other parks around. Very accommodating and some of the most friendliest folks around, including the usual seasonal campers. Highly recommended if you're looking for the laid back camping feel with the occasional good time.
We had an amazing time! A great place for the children to ride their bikes, play on the playground, and play in the river. Very family friendly with a great view!!!
Great spot...river views...large sites ....Bathhouse handy to all sites and plenty of hot water...camped here many times and always a fun and relaxing stay..plenty of firewood available on site and the store has whatever you need...looking forward to next season......Update October 2017...purchased a new-to-me trailer and Bob the camp host spent several hours jockeying the trailer into position and setting it up for next season... Extremely helpful and knowledgable about all things RV... Thanks Bob and Sue... Looking forward to next season.
Owners were super friendly and very attentive. Extremely clean campgrounds.Location is very beautiful, far enough away from town but close enough to stores and other amenities.Really amazing view. Very kid friendly, other campers were very friendly as well. We've officially made this our new campground!
Pros: beautiful!!!! Close to convenience stores. You can drive your vehicle onto the rocky bank of the river and spend the whole day wading in the waters of the river or fishing. The scenery is breathtaking and the campground is quiet because there are not many campers. The campground in a whole is very well maintained. All but what seemed to be one site were seasonal sites. The seasonal campers are very nice and welcoming, they are probably what keeps the place running every year. Very little traffic in and out. Dogs are welcome. The owners came down while we were setting up, however it didn’t feel welcoming, it felt more of a judging/gauging session because there was no introduction or information given except the WiFi password Cons: NO USE OF THE BATH HOUSE!!! This was pretty gross. Their website clearly states they “regularly maintain the bath house,” but it is locked and they will not open them. Covid was the excuse and have not had this issue for OBVIOUS reasons during covid at any other campground but was also informed by the seasonal campers the owners just did not want to take care of them because they were shut down pre-covid shortly after they bought the place. Keep in mind the non-seasonal site is no sewage hook up so you are not able to shower and clean/do dishes in your own camper if you’re staying more than one or two nights with a family. Plus the pump tanks are on the wrong side when you’re leaving the campground. We had to drag our black and grey water home for 2 and a half hours. There was no on site store or even a check in office. You just pull up to some cones on the road and hope someone sees you. They need new picnic tables. They are plastic and the seats are all busted up and were filthy. I know the owner saw this because they moved the table. The first night my 6 year old’s legs were slashed and bleeding with cuts from the table and we had to put down blankets. There was nothing to do at the campground. This was new for us. We are used to SOMETHING being offered, but I could see this being nice for an elderly couple with no children or a group of people there just to drink and hang out by a fire. The price seemed good until you realize what you get for your money. All in all nice scenery, but nothing to be excited about.
My husband and I are travel nurse/respiratory therapist we were here for a little more then 6 months and loved it. We were just a short walk to the river from our camp site, and the campground is beautifully maintained. All the camp sites have a great view of the river. The owner's are very nice people, they made us feel right at home. Definitely would come back without a doubt.
We have been seasonal campers for two years and absolutely love it here. The views are amazing and the campground is SO well kept. The other campers are friendly and welcoming, as are the owners. They make you feel like family and ensure that your time there is relaxing and enjoyable. We are sad that the season has come to an end. We are looking forward to many many years at Susquehanna Shores !
Bob and Sue are the best! I've stayed at their campground a few times over the years and have recommended it to many a family and friend. Not only are Bob and Sue's hospitality top notch, they have worked so well with the different groups I've visited with to accommodate our needs and work with our requests. If you're a somewhat novice camper like me, you'll love the full, clean, and always stocked bathrooms on site that are close to your campground as well. Can't wait to go back!
