I ordered cupcakes and cookies for a baby shower. The cookies were so yummy and the cupcakes were outstanding! The buttercream frosting is so light and not overly sweet! Also a special thank-you to Marian the woman who works behind the counter. From answering all my questions regarding pricing and ordering, to placing the order, and picking up my order, she was an absolute pleasure and delight to work with. If you need a good bakery, this is the place to go! I definitely recommend Sylvia’s!
I can't believe how delicious these pączki were. They have so many different flavors to choose from. I'm definitely going to recommend this spot to everyone. I will definitely be planning on coming back more often
Amazing and delicious bakery!! Have gotten many birthday cakes and they do a phenomenal job decorating below are just a few and it is delicious!! We have also had their pastries, cookies, and cupcakes and it is amazing!! Check it out - you won't be disappointed!! ** Updated and changed my 5 star review. The last cupcakes I got were delicious but had many troubles ordering them. Gave me hard time about order and wanted an exact picture of what I wanted. I liked them since I always have a general idea and they ran away with it and did a phenomenal job. Have kiddos and a million other things going on party planning - I don't have time to Google a million pictures. I am not sure if I will order again- it was that much of a headache. Again, baked goods are delish, my latest troubles was the customer service.
First time trying this bakery then my normal go to bakery. Paczki’s were amazing. But, the King Cake was way overpriced, it was beautifully decorated was excited to try it! Worst Cake Ever. It was dried out, there was no cinnamon or praline or cream cheese in it as the original is made. It tasted like sugar frosting on top of Dried out Brioche or Italian Bread. Thick no taste at all and dry. I was truly disappointed and no one ate, so I ended up throwing away a $50 cake.
First time here never knew they even existed until today, lived in area over 30 Years. I WILL DEFINITELY BE BACK!!!! If you have a sweet tooth this is the place to go. Great product and nice people.
YUM, YUM, YUM!! My eyes wanted everything in her Bakery! While awaiting results at the Clinic across the street, I was starving and the Medical team recommended I try Sylvia's. So glad he did, as this is now my new Bakery that I won't mind driving to from my town. The Coffee Cake I purchased was Out of this World!! So fresh, and homemade ingredients that my family could not keep their hands out of it. Lol!
My only complaint is that Sylvia's bakery isn't open 24/7. I went here for the first time after having it saved for a while, and oh my goodness it's amazing! The woman at the counter was so sweet and helpful, and I walked out with an absurd amount of sweets that were eaten way too quickly. This is the type of place you want to share with everyone you know, but also keep it a secret for yourself.
The sweet rolls/doughnuts were delicious. The brownies were too rich - chocolate on top of chocolate.
My original review for Paczki Day is below. This year, March 1, 2022, I still recommend Sylvia's Bakery. I moved and tried NW Indiana's Bakeries and they do not compare to Sylvia''s. Everyone in Chicago knows that February 25, 2020 is PACZKIS Day and you don't want to miss it! Sylvia's Bakery has really excellent Paczkis in my opinion and will be serving them every day 2/20/20 - 3/1/20 longer than other bakeries. They have many different varieties however I suggest you go early as they are popular so they do run out. They make fresh ones each day. I had the lemon filled with the lemon icing on top. See my photo. It was authentic and will be going back for a different kind before it's over.
My family & I have been coming here for years. Best bakery ever!! They also did my wedding cake PERFECTLY and it tasted DELICIOUS !!! My theme was pastel rainbow and they picked the most perfect colors! They are the best in the area!
