My goal is to educate, motivate and inspire those who desire to make a positive change in their lives and experience the fun and freedom that a healthy and active lifestyle can provide.
A few years ago, I never would have thought of a career as a Certified Personal Trainer. I had always been in fairly good shape without even trying, so fitness wasn't a high priority. But years of a fast food based diet, coupled with too many hours spent in front of video games, eventually added up to unwanted pounds. About 30 of them. I was definately unhappy with my appearance and physical conditioning.
Around that time, my father decided to make some lifestyle changes in one more attempt to end a life long struggle with his weight. So we started exercising together. Slow at first - walking around the neighborhood and playing some pretty ugly raquetball matches. Things began to happen.
As the number on the scale started dropping, we got more and more into it. I began researching weight loss strategies, nutrition, and training philosophies. We experimented with different programs and meal plans. After I reached my initial goal, I kept working with my dad to keep him on track. I found that I really enjoyed motivating him, designing workout plans and following his progress. He loves to tell me whenever he realizes he can move better, or do so much more than before.
I decided to put my new found knowledge and enthusiasm to even better use. I studied hard, attending seminars and classes that led to my certification. I continue to study under the National Academy of Sports medicine to build by expertise as a Health & Fitness Professional.
My education has taught me how important it is to follow a scientifically based plan designed to avoid injury and effectively help anyone reach their physical potential. I'm a big fan of the NASM Optimum Performance Training method that focuses on different strategies and intensity levels customized to achieve a clients goals by improving stability, correcting imbalances, and moving through stages of flexibility, strength, and power.
If there is a goal you would like to accomplish. You don't have to tackle it alone. Don't be fooled by insane DVDs or workouts of the the day that are more likely to cause you injury than make lasting changes to your health. It won't always be easy, but you'll learn to love it - especially the results.
I'm here to help. We got this.
