I have frequented this resort when it was under the Best Western, Timber Cove Lodge on many occasions. The property is very nicely located and used to be well kept. Ten days ago, we visited the property under its new name "Beach Retreat & Lodge at Tahoe". The price has significantly increased, and it is absolutely not worth the accommodations and the condition the property was at. Some staff members are extremely nice whole others won't spare you the time to help and are willing to totally ignore you when you talk to them. The room was fine but had bugs in the bathroom, a spider web and live spiders. Cleanliness of the room was questionable even when they came to clean the room on a daily basis. There are no warning signs of renovation work taking place and you are left to deal with wet paint that is not marked as such. Renovation team placed their trash next to our room door, and it did not get picked up throughout the duration of our stay. The renovation team were banging on our walls while we were in the room, very unprofessional handling of the renovation work at the site, and worst of all is that their General Manager and front desk managers did not seem to care when informed about all the mishaps and unacceptable conditions. In brief, the place is not worth over $300 a night for below standard accommodations, we would have been better served at Motel 6 down the street. Very disappointing and unprofessional. We are never returning to a place that do not value their customers. Rooms: Rooms are comfortable but not kept as clean as normal hotels. Safety: While renovating, wet paint left without any warning signs, walking area not cleaned. Noteworthy details: Nice location but not worth the prestige it once had under Best Western, not very clean, some staff unhelpful like their General Manager and front desk Manager among others. Disappointing accommodations as compared to previous ownership and definitely not worth the room charge.
The location was amazing. The vibe on the beach was relaxing and fun. We loved the Tiki Bar and the wedding we attended on site was stunning. We saw a bear wandering around the parking lot, so be careful! The rooms leave a lot to be desired. Very weathered which is understandable at a mountain resort, but the price didn’t reflect the value of the rooms. You’re definitely paying for location. We would stay here again if we were able to get a lower price.
This resort is being renovated and wish I would have known before I booked. The location is good, but the resort itself is not at all what I expected. The room was small, no place to set anything. Not even a luggage rack. The towels were thin and scratchy. I also would think you wouldn’t have to rent chairs to sit on the resorts beach. For almost $400 per night, I thought it would be a nicer resort. As far as service, all of the staff was wonderful! It is a good thing that Lake Tahoe is so pretty! Rooms: Too small for two people. Had to ask for more coffee and towels.
8/27/23 This is a complete review with updates to come. Looking forward to the room, the staff, the sites and the beautiful lake. The pictures will be stunning! With research on many platforms, it sounds like this place is updating and has a prime location to enjoy a relaxing stay. Always a good vibe to start on a positive note.
The check-in service was amazing. We texted the front desk and got a room two hours early. The service could improve, though. We had to text for items and wait for morning delivery or pick them up ourselves. But the vibe and service were happy overall. The best part is the beach is just by your door.Rooms: 4/5
Property is in middle of renovation. The room itself has nicely been done. The outside of the building needs serious work. Elevator broke down. The outside walkway upstairs is rickety. The floor boards slant as if they are dry rotted. If you look down at the stairways... the cement is crumbling away and wonder how it holds up to weight. The manager, Anna, is absolutely rude. My reservation was not correct in their system to what my email copy showed. She didn't care and instructed me to go back to booking. com to resolve. I asked for 2 queens and got 1 king. She went as far to tell me I was out of luck as they had no rooms available. The display sign flashed vacancies available. They wouldn't even give me another king room. 3 hours later. Problem fixed and they found a room for 2 queen beds. I had to do all the calling and wasted 3 hours of my time instead of enjoying the evening. Will not go back.
The view is definitely nice. The location is also good. You get one parking pass per room. The parking lot was pretty full and we were told we could park anywhere as long as not blocking anyone. We arrived around 11:30pm and it took about 40 min to check in. There was a line and the people at the front of the line had a lengthy complaint/issue. LENGTHY. We arrived at the room after midnight. The light didn’t work. There was a shower, no bath. Furniture is a bit old and not super clean. Stained chairs, nail polish and something sticky on the night stand. Room was pretty cold but warmed up. Morning view of lake was gorgeous and the little beach outside hotel looks nice. We left to head home. Just weren’t feeling it. Paid $288 total—-needed place to stay after a concert. If you like luxury, I wouldn’t stay here. If you don’t mind roughing it a bit, its good. If you want to be on the lake? It’s good. It is a bit dated. The bed was very clean and comfy. We also got a free upgrade to the “honeymoon Suite” due to scheduling matters. The front desk agent was very nice once we were finally helped.
We stayed in July and felt the room was overpriced for the value. Amazing views and location. We had lake front property. We could hear the floors creak at night and in the morning f when people walked in the room above. The chairs on the balcony could also be nicer. They were falling apart. They did do a recent remodel so the overall room was nice but again not to the price. Plastic garbage can right outside our room with no lid and blue plastic can in our room. Beds were barely average. Pillows were great. There was not a smart TV and for the price a smart TV should be available and it is 2023! NO movies or streaming and was disappointing.. Overall stay you will have fun. Maybe they are price gouging to make up from the pandemic loss. If you are looking ti park and have beach time and bar it is perfect setting. They just need to lower the price for the value.
We loved the hotel. The rooms looked like they had been recently been renovated. No issues with the bathroom. The bed sheets looked clean. Everything looked very clean. We always found a parking spot right in front of our room. We stayed 7 nights. The front desk provided new towels when requested. The location was perfect in front of the lake. Walking distance to CVS and restaurants was very close. We are already planning on returning next year in July and we want to return to Beach Retreat and Lodge.
The picture they show is nice. Lake is very close and a good amount of restaurants within walking distance. If you're looking for a beach atmosphere, this is great. The small service area is clean and the staff was very professional. The room is a small step above Motel 6. If all you are doing is sleeping with a bit of TV time, the room is fine. It is quite small. Toilet and shower are in the same closed off quarters. Beach location: 5 out of 5. Friendly staff: 5 out of 5. Parking lot: 3 out of 5. Room and bathroom set up: 2 out out 5. Cleanliness inside of room: 4 out of 5. Cleanliness outside of room and surrounding areas: 1 out of 5.
